This is a lovely hotel with beautiful grounds. The staff are professional and accommodating. Rooms are comfortable, spacious, and with nice views. Dogs are allowed in the rooms but not restaurants, so we had room service. There is electric car charging and it’s an hour from the Eurotunnel, which is convenient.

A convenient place close to the English Channel for a stopover. Also close to the battle fields of World War One for those wanting to visit that area. The hotel, La Chatreuse du Val Esprit offers a range of good restaurants for residents and non-residents. Close to the motorway but not too close.
We loved the character of this hotel, our Luxe Twin Room was superb and felt very grand. There were plenty of parking spaces in the hotel grounds. The lobby bar was very stylish and comfortable for relaxation with friends. This is a beautiful building and gardens. The staff looked after us really well. The bathroom was luxuriously large, beautifully tiled. A good choice of restaurant meals meant that everyone was catered for.
Splendid chateau in the middle of a former coal mining area. It is lovely. Great choice of 3 restaurants but very disappointed that the one we chose did not have available the two main courses which had made us choose it.
80% of the guests were English and the staff spoke excellent English without a fuss. We have been to this hotel a few times over 25 years, it has changed a bit but never fails to impress.
The reason we booked this place is because an on site restaurant was open on the Sunday evening. Our room was amazing value for money, massive room clean and tidy with a large en-suite bathroom with bath and walk in shower. The WC was separate. Very comfy bed with fresh sheets and towels and a well stocked mini bar. I have already booked again for our next trip in a couple of weeks.
We have stayed at this hotel many times whist travelling to and from the south of France. The hotel has remained very dependable with a choice of restaurants and good food, pleasant rooms and an attentive staff. The gardens are well worth visit. The hotel is well placed close to the A26 motorway but not too close.
Excellent for a trip back to the Eurotunnel. Pay a little more for better beds than the budget hotels. Walk around the exquisite gardens to relax and the food at either restaurant on site is excellent. Yes it's a bit more than an Ibis but you're worth it.
A beautiful old hotel (chateau) which is a little tired in places. The room we stayed in needed a bit of maintenance done such as oiling of squeaky doors, one door didn't close, tap on basin made a loud noise when on. Dusty in places.
We love this hotel and it's location as we travel to and from the South of France. It is perfect for the dogs too. All in all we normally have a great stay but this time .....
annex part of the adjacent hotel. Nice big room and bathroom. Easy to find 5 mins off A26.
Bistro open Sunday night - always a bonus in France .
Staff friendly and helpful
was upgraded to the sister hotel next door which was above expectations. The whole experience was wonderful, from the easy booking in the the hotel and grounds.
Lovely hotel and room. We have stayed many times and I am never disappointed except a little bit this time. The grounds are amazing and the restaurant good.
