A French city with a touch of Catalan
Perpignan is located at the foothills of the magnificent Pyrenees and is a perfect base for sightseeing whilst travelling along the coast of France and Spain.
Along the banks of River Basse is The Castille, which is a 14th-century red-brick fortress and one of the main sights in Perpignan. Other historic landmarks that are worth a visit are the Perpignan Cathedral, 13th century Palace of the Kings of Majorca, and the François Arago Liceum.
Perpigna’s picturesque streets and walkways are lined with a variety of cafés and restaurants. A notable area is the Place de la République, home to the Théâtre municipal and surrounded by several shops, bars and boutiques.

I could have spent all day at the Palace and another exploring the array of very high quality shops in the lovely winding streets. The cathedral is worth a visit for those interested in architecture, history, etc. or who just appreciate the remarkable efforts humans put into their religious monuments. It is an active religious site, so proper dress and respectful behavior are requested. A stroll along the canal was very pleasant. I did not have enough time to do any of it justice. I walked everywhere. Ask hotel staff which way to go to the palace: GPS doesn't know there is only one entrance and will take you to the outside wall only, FAR from the entrance.

Perpignan is a lively place, cleaner and neater than some other southern French cities. The historical sites are not particularly thrilling, but it's pleasant to wander around the old town and there is always something going on - the annual festival of photojournalism while we were there. The beach resorts of Canet and Sainte-Marie are within easy reach.
Recommended excursions: Céret, Collioure (each a cheap 40-min bus ride away if you can figure out the eccentric timetable) + the Red Train along the Fenouillèdes valley west of Perpignan - with very knowledgeable guides! Details from Tourist Office

Like many visitors to the town, we were drawn to the town by the chance to watch the Catalans Dragons rugby league club play at Stade Gilbert Brutus. However, there is so much more that the town has to offer travellers.
The town centre is crammed with beautiful architecture, quirky shops, bars and cafes and lots of history. Meanwhile, for just a euro you can catch a forty minute bus down to the coast (we chose Collioure). A brilliant trip whether visiting with family or friends. We will definitely be back soon.

Historical castle with old town.
Historical castle with old town. Quiet provincial French town with an interesting looking medieval heart that is undergoing restoration.
We walked around Perpignan, well signposted. The locals are friendly and helpful. We ate at a restaurant close to the train station the food was tasty and reasonably priced. The Pizza place close to town was a bit more expensive but food was tasty and staff helpful. The dinner at The Steakhouse was food but quite expensive again the staff were helpful and friendly.
Location is ideal
Very close to the train and bus station
The balcony room we had, had great views over the mountains
Nice large room with kitchenette but there is no kettle. It would be great if they can add a kettle to the kitchenette as well
The car park next to the hotel is one of the cheapest in Perpignan and Lidl and other supermarkets plus a couple of restaurants at the train station.
Perpignan city centre is very walkable from here so if you don't have a car, getting around won't be a problem
A very friendly and helpful host, provided all information on surroundings. Was offered a breakfast and a smoothie upon arrival. The apartment is clean and well equipped and the room has its own shower and is quite large too. Entire area seems safe and the place is just few minutes walk from the train and bus station and maybe 15 min walk to the city centre and about 30 min to the beach by bus (2.30 return ticket). The beach is beautiful, with many bars, restaurants etc...
The host was courteous and kept us updated as we were en route to the property of all needed information.
The appartment was perfectly located as we were passing through Perpignan only for the night. We were able to walk to the historic Centre within a few and enjoy the Christmas market.
There was parking on the property.
The most enjoyable aspect was the apartment was quiet. Great for a good night's rest.
Everything was excellent , in great condition and near all the attractions in the old quarter. Close to Boulangeries and transport.Make sure you have a Sim card that works in France before you arrive to call the property owners ..The Apartment is like new and is clean and bright. 2 flights of stairs but worth it. Thanks & would live to return as its great for Collioure and Villefranche and Canet .
Extremely helpful and friendly reception staff. A good parking facility (underground garage with a 2.1 height) offered at a discounted hotel rate (note: you should go to level -3 which is the hotel's own). Great location - only 10-15 minutes from the centre, and right by the SNCF station. Very reasonably priced for a French city centre.
Hotel is in a great location, near to the old town and within easy walking distance of most attractions. The room was excellent and the balcony was a real treat. Breakfast was good. In all a great place to stay to see the delights Perpignan has to offer.
We have been to this hotel three times and every time was great. The breakfast was very varied and very delicious. The rooms are clean and spacious. Good location which gives many opportunities. In my opinion The Best Hotel in Perpignan.
Excellent value for money, kitchen, living area and shower all excellent. Easy access to all the best bits of Perpignan, free weekend parking just around the corner. Very friendly and helpful host who gave us many great recommendations.
The location in the center of Perpignan was perfect - close to shopping and restaurants and tourist sites. We stayed an extra night due to the train strike. Henri and Veronique were great hosts - and Haribo is a delightful big dog!
We LOVED our stay in this wonderful apartment in the extraordinary city of Perpignan. The location was perfect. All amenities were available. Jose was a FABULOUS host, accommodating and thoughtful. We hope to stay again VERY soon.
It is a very nice hotel in Perpignan. Restaurants and city centre are not far away. I paid a small amount (10€ per night) to upgrade to a better room, with a king size bed and a balcony. Was great!
For a budget hotel a really pleasant surprise, clean, really comfy bed. Room with a small garden was great for the dogs. But best of all a great team of staff, multilingual and helpful.
Amazing guesthouse with excellent hosts and a delicious breakfast. Free and secure parking is a great addition also. Would definitely stay there again on a visit back to Perpignan!
The hotel staff are very kind and helpful. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The location is near the train station and just a short walk to the main sites
Great location in the heart of old Perpignan. Very quiet this time of year and didn't take breakfast. Just a good place to spend a couple of nights exploring the city.
staff is par excellence...
