This Budget Ibis was much nicer than the one we stayed in Paris. It was relatively new, the room was larger and better equipped (bigger TV). Thus it just had a nicer vibe!

This hotel is a little gem. It is a budget hotel that delivers excellent value. The reception staff were so helpful and welcoming, speaking excellent English. The breakfast was good value and we also had the evening meal which was fine for the price we paid.

Was there to watch Scotland take on France at Rugby - a very friendly city with so many locals keen to ensure we had a great time, joined in with festivities and loved the atmosphere. A very safe and welcoming city !!
The main square is surrounded by restaurants and bars, quality food and plenty of atmosphere. Found the tram system excellent - no issues in buying tickets and using to get to stadium.
Saint Victor, a historic, medieval village and tourist spot with beach and boat cruises on Loire just 15 mins by car from City Inn hotel. Enjoyed a very relaxing day here, nice pace of life and again, very friendly !!

This is a tired sad town that is doing its best to put on a good presence for visitors - every local I spoke to was very pleasant and welcoming, which was very nice. The art museum was closed on my visit and there was nothing else that intrigued me to devote time/energy. There are very few places to eat after 10pm outside of fast food. I was here for a rugby match and the stadium experience was excellent, especially the bistro on the top level of the stade which is necessary to reserve ahead of time (note they only serve pizza and burgers after the match, so if you want a proper dinner book before the game). Streets are very dark at night for walking, this might frighten a lot of visitors; but the city seems to be safe, even if it is offputting to have to use your cell phone light to walk down a sidewalk and to hear voices of people you cannot see in the dark .

Unfortunately our stay was very short and it was pouring with rain the evening that we arrived and threatening to rain the next morning so we decided to move on. What we did see, gave us the impression of a very tempting city to ecplore

It is a basic city very livable but nothing special! It is one of the most habitable places in France (the least expensive city in France). It is a university town with many different bars and restaurants but nothing special it did not give me any energy.

The apartment is in a poor location.
The apartment is in a poor location. People out on the street below drinking with loud music till 3am every night.
The apartment is very hot as it is in the roof, up 3 flights of stairs. No air conditioning.
It was too hot to leave the windows closed but very very noisy so that we had no sleep for 3 nights.
Lack of items such as there was only a few sheets of toilet paper, we had to find a shop immediately to buy more, the soap containers were empty, there was a dishwasher but no dishwasher tablets. It would be easy to provide these as we only stayed the weekend and had to buy everything.
This is not a place to stay in summer.
No good restaurants or cafes nearby. Very disappointing.

The museum of mines was very interesting and well organized.
The museum of mines was very interesting and well organized. The transport around the city was convenient and easy to use. The Hôtel de Ville and central areas of town were well designed and very pleasant. Getting around Saint Etienne is very easy and walking is enjoyable too.
After staying in tiny rooms for most of my holiday, it was refreshing to arrive at a hotel with large rooms! It’s an old building with rooms named after famous actors but the rooms are also clean & we were greeted very warmly by the front desk. The location is great: within walking distance to the trams & buses, grocery stores & laundromat. Note the tram services don’t appear in Google maps so plan your commute via the https://www.reseau-stas.fr site. The tram runs direct to the city & regional train station.
A great and affordable place to stay in Saint-Etienne : the location is central yet quiet with many places around to go out and a grocery shop around the corner. The appartement is clean and modern with electric heaters and big windows that let in a lot of sunlight ; the kitchen is well equipped (with a Nespresso machine) ; the bedroom is separated from the main area and the bed is big and really comfortable! Two people could easily stay there for a long period. Highly recommended !
The Novotel and Ibis hotels share a building across the street from the train station, with trams stopping right in front. It's a short tram ride into the centre of town or a 20 minute walk. Safe, quiet neighbourhood. Staff were very friendly and helpful; lobby was cheerful. We didn't have the breakfast. Room was small but conveniently appointed. We heard a little bit of train noise (or maybe it was a garbage truck), but very muffled; didn't bother us.
The room was very comfortable and clean. It was a good size and really useful having the kitchenette area as we were staying for 7 nights. It was great to have a fan provided in the room as it was hot weather.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for us, within walking distance of areas with bars and restaurants and also the stadium. The city is very walkable in general. I would recommend Residhotel to others.
I have stayed here many times over the years mainly because the location works for me. This is truly a business hotel. There are no frills at all, but I have to say the rooms are small but always clean. The staff are very polite and helpful. Parking is a bit limited. Breakfast is a bit so so...but the restaurant in the evening is really good. I will be staying here again when I am in the region.
The hotel is very quaint and charming. The breakfast room is large and the food was of high quality. The location is convenient for those traveling by car (or motorcycle) and there is a large covered parking garage at the rear of the hotel which means parking isn't a problem (large SUVs may struggle).
The location is just across the train station, very clean hotel, looks new and affordable. Their buffet breakfast is 7 euro per person and it was great. They even let us leave our luggages for the whole day while visiting family in St. Genest.
The hotel location is great but looks old, Cold and no touches show the hospitality.
I suggest you add a few carpets in the hall next to the reception, and one big TV with music or football matches.
This was an excellent budget hotel. It’s very central, and everything works as it should. The staff is friendly and helpful. Good hot water. Everything was clean. And, it was quiet. Fast wifi too.
The apartment is very nice, lightly decorated but good taste shows on the decoration. It is quite universal.
It is also very well equipped and of good size, well located in Saint-Etienne.
The apartment was amazing, as it says on the advert. Great location and very clean. The host was very helpful as well. Would definitely recommend if you go to Saint-Etienne!
An older style hotel, easy walking distance to restaurants in the town square. Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. We were able to check in early, which was a bonus.
The Apartment is super clean and has everything you need for a nice stay in Saint Etienne. Nearby is a good Burger restaurant and everything else you need..
