In a beautiful spot with a lovely, very friendly member of staff! It was quiet as out of season. So the auberge was closed. But the village ensures that you can get a decent meal somewhere!

Cucugnan is a charming hillside village, but easily accessible and a great area for walking, touring and wine tasting. There are many historical attractions, (Queribus and Peryperteuse castles) in the area. My snug, en-suite double room was very clean and comfortable, with its own door to the terrace and stunning views. There are several bistros nearby serving excellent food. The host is very friendly and helpful for walking advice. The host serves a substantial continental breakfast and chats with the guests. I stayed two enjoyable nights

Lovely cool room with excellent but silent air conditioning. Host offered evening meal when it was discovered that all restaurants in village closed.

Excellent place to explore the area from. Tourist office was so very helpful. The little road train to the Gorges of Galmus and the red train to Axat were a high point. Near to the Chateau of Puillarens. Mountain roads were exciting with hardly any traffic. A little further drive were examples of Vauban’s forts, Mont Louis and Villefranche de Conflet.

Chateau Peyralade is in a beautiful scenic location just outside Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet in a very quiet, relaxed area of Pyrennes-Orientales. The hosts were extremely friendly and we enjoyed a couple of evening meals with the hosts - the food and local wines we sampled were excellent. we also enjoyed lovely breakfasts everyday which were homemade by Veronique including fruits, yogurts and breads.
Nice little hotel, room was small and basic but clean, comfortable and functional. The terrace and the pool were a big plus - exactly what we needed after a day's hiking. Also an unexpected bonus were the mountain bikes available to borrow - took a lovely 10 minute ride on a cycle path through vineyards and fields to get into town for dinner.
I wonderful hotel, peaceful location so tranquil with a view to the garden and small river. Totally quiet at night. Large room with a good shower.
Restaurant was very good, local cuisine and very tasty. Good choice for breakfast. Staff so friendly. Swimming pool was a real bonus, very large and beautifully clean.
