Beautiful property with absolutely gorgeous and well maintained gardens. We were warmly greeted by staff and check in was so smooth and speedy. Enthusiastic conversations and recommendations on places to visit. We were given a tour of property, its facilities and it is STUNNING. So peaceful and relaxing. Our room was spacious and luxurious with unexpected treats like home-cooked cookies and refreshments/hot beverages. Huge bathroom with robes and towels for the pool. The pool had a great temperature and a wonderful morning exercise. We booked to eat in the restaurant and the service was exemplary and the food was so fresh and cooked to order. We slept soundly and comfortably and we were gifted breakfast muffins which were hung outside our room. Breakfast was a continuation of fresh ingredients with a great variety. Our stay may have been short but we thoroughly enjoyed time spent and will definitely return in future.

In a wooded valley 10 minutes’ walk from St Austell town, The Waterwheel Inn is surrounded by 1.5 acres of grounds.

Room satisfactory, balcony a little disappointing - it seemed more of a broad walk and a little tatty. Breakfast on the first morning - chaotic. Lack of cups, juice, croissants, staff. We made the hotel aware of this. Not much better on second day - we asked for a pot of tea which we had been provided with the day before and was told tea bags were available and you 'made your own'.

From our country house hotel by the sea, the only thing we overlook is the bay. Our spectacular clifftop location offers a 180 degree sea view over Carlyon Bay.
