Smithfield Farm Bed & Breakfast, hotel in Builth Wells

Set amongst the beautiful Wye Valley, Smithfield Farm Bed and Breakfast offers wonderful views of the hills above Builth Wells.

We were amazed at the effort that was made to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The extra little touches added by the hosts were classy. I won't spoil the little surprises by revealing what awaits you as a guest at this B&B. The room and en suite facilities are spotlessly clean, you won't find better. They have a novel way of presenting breakfast in your room that works perfectly. We had a fully cooked English/Welsh Breakfast, delicious. I have never met the hosts before and we only stayed one night, just the nicest of people.

Welsh wonderland, hotel in Builth Wells

Featuring a terrace, Welsh wonderland is situated in Builth Wells, within 49 km of Clifford Castle and 21 km of Llandrindod Golf Club.

The drive-in was lovely. We passed views you'd see on post cards, and the windy roads were amazing to drive. The home was outstanding. An entire Annexe that leaves you wanting for nothing, twinned with an amazing view identical to what you see in the pictures. You get a large balcony for the aformentioned view, a fully fitted kitchen, and a seriously comfy bed to boot. Lastly, the owners, Janette and Andy, were not only amazing hosts but lovely human beings. They offered us a tour of their beautiful farm filled with loved and well-kept animals, which was a highlight for us. Life can be stressful sometimes, but I can honestly say this is one of those places where you just sit back, smile, and wonder, "Where did the time go?"

The property is very rural and closer to Hay on Wye than Builth. If you like holidays that are mainly rural/scenic with small towns then this is good. Good for cycling etc Hay is a bijou town and Brecon appealing. We visited a few old churches close by, many from Norman times - fantastic. Art exhibitions in both Hay and Brecon. Eating in hay is relatively cheap and most appealing

We stayed at Builth 1) Because that was the location of the cabin.2) Builth is close to Rhayader and we wanted to see the dam and scenery there.3) Builth itself had a good choice of places to eat and is a nice town with good sized car park.It is easy to get around Builth and has a good choice of places to eat from cafes to restaurants. Can't say there is anything we would avoid.

The township is lovely, plenty of shops, cafes and pubs. Clean well kept town with a sense pride. Friendly too. There is the river with a long path running alongside it. This is used by the locals with kids or walking their dogs. Always people out and about.

A small friendly Welsh town famous for the Royal Welsh Showground with its wonderful events at different times throughout the year. Beautiful location within a scenic, rural, surrounded by beautiful hills and mountains, and close to Brecon Beacons National Park. Enough options for all needs, re restaurants, pubs and shops. But not too much to be overwhelming, nicely accessible for our short stay.

    Beautiful spotless comfy accommodation.

Beautiful spotless comfy accommodation. We were staying for the Hay Festival and although off the beaten track, it was pretty close to Hay on Wye. The owners left some Welsh cakes and a bottle of wine which was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. The accommodation is brand new and has everything one needs. Would highly recommend.

We liked that it was a small pub, situated in a quiet, pretty little village near the river Ebw. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The pub was busy but we didn't have to wait for anything and we were acknowledged quickly and shown our room. The room was clean and a good size with two single beds that were both of a good size. The evening food was well priced and sized and we were very satisfied! The beer was also very well priced and equally as tasty would definitely visit again.

Beautiful Setting with amazing, experienced hosts. We were made to feel very welcome here. The room was immaculately clean with premium facilities. We had two early starts, the hosts accommodated early breakfasts for us, which we were very grateful for. David cooked the breakfast to perfection. All ingredients were of a high quality. Small bottles of Welsh water in the room was a nice touch. Close to the Royal Welsh showground, very convenient. Highly responsive to emails and requests

The proprietors were very affable and hospitable. Our room was lovely - clean, comfortable, fresh and homely. We didn't have dinner at the hotel. It was fully booked. I'm sure the food would have been good - particularly the Thai menu. We had a drink in the bar and we enjoyed that. The log burner was on and the company was very convivial. Breakfast was excellent. The location is very good - a very short walk to get into Builth Wells, over a beautiful bridge spanning the river Wye.

I was very happy at Nick and Lydia guesthouse. Very friendly and helpful. I was amazed by my breakfast on the morning. I had a typical Welsh one, homemade, of course with local products. That is a plus when, as a tourist from abroad, you want to discover a country. I also noticed in my room, few homemade cookies. After a full week traveling through Wales, it's definitely my best stay. I warmly recommend.

Near to the beautiful Elan Valley. Friendly, helpful host. Wildlife nearby (rabbits, pheasants, woodpeckers and bullfinches close to the cabin, and kingfishers and merganser in the nearby Irfon river). Child friendly, peaceful, with a lot of grass to run around. Pretty walk into the centre of Builth Wells along the river. Kitchen well equipped. Great price.

Quiet location, away of the main roads, ideal if you wish to have a good rest. Very friendly staff. We found our bedroom clean and tidy, beds, carpets bathroom, all in good order. Plenty of free car park slots, none bothering you with "pay an display" signs. Seems to be a safe area and Builth Wells is a good base to explore the surroundings

A wonderful stop for us to be based in Builth Wells for the Spring Festival at the Royal Welsh Showground. A fabulous cabin, beautifully equipped, in a very quiet location, very close to town and we only wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy it more. Everything you could want and beautifully designed and laid out with all facilities.

The lodge was very clean and more spacious in the living area than we expected. The weather was a bit chilly in the evenings and it was good to have heaters to keep the place warm. We very much enjoyed watching the rabbits and birds and the lovely surroundings.
