Great, pub in an amazing spot on he side of Esk valley. Welcoming and helpful staff. We were cyclists and docked a point for no lock up,but we coukd lock the bikes outside at the rear of the pub. Beer and evening meal excellent and its obviously a popular place- pretty busy even on a random Thursday.

Fabulous space that was cosy and very clean. The Host, Debbie, made sure we were comfortable and how to contact her if needed. Very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Really liked the option of either collecting breakfast to take back to your room or dine in the room next to reception. Great location with access to local bus routes and village
This charming family-run hotel has a great restaurant and a wonderful, peaceful location on Whitby’s West Cliff, near the seafront and within walking distance of the town centre.

The hotel was well located in the village. The room was small but it was very clean and comfortable and had all the required facilities. Breakfast was good and the price reasonable, given the lack of hotels in the village.

We booked the Ellerby as it was close to a wedding venue, brides family and grooms family all stayed, 16 of us in total and a dog. The staff could not have been more helpful. Ate in the restaurant, daughter is coeliac and they had a menu with a great choice, breakfast was fabulous. We had late check out till 12. Can't recommend it enough.

We wouldn't come in August again, roads far to busy and fast! But any other time of year it would be a perfect place to visit and we shall do so. Ellerby is a small, quiet, peaceful village and long may to remain. Perfect views from car park looking towards the coast. Exquisite garden, full of interesting plants and "items", find them yourself! We only had breakfasts this time but have eaten before and can recommend dining. Breakfasts have much to choose from.

A fabulous country inn/hotel, All staff were extremely pleasant and nothing was too much trouble should you have any queries. There were 16 of us as we were celebrating my husbands 70th birthday. A nice surprise of bottle of proseco in our room plus greetings card. Nobody in our group had anything negative to say about Ellerby it was all extremely positive comments from them. The food was excellent. Would we stay here again, most certainly. A great big thank you to Ellerby for making my birthday weekend memorable.

The room had a shared terrace with a great view. Fresh milk in a fridge was lovely. We ate in the hotel as there is nowhere else to eat within walking distance. The bus stops right outside the hotel & is very frequent.

The food and staff were all magnificent. The place was spotless. The rooms we spotless. The Ellerby inn is a great place to stay. Next time we stay we shall eat in the restaurant more the meals were wonderful.
What a lovely find this place was. The rooms are clean and comfy. There is a really nice garden and a lovely conservatory for guests to use. The staff are very good and a credit to the Ellerby. The food is so good too. My husband said that his breakfast was one of the most perfectly cooked breakfasts of any place that we have ever stayed in. We will always choose this place when we are in the area.
Good location for travelling to Whitby and Runswick Bay. Stayed for a wedding in Danby so close to there too. Friendly staff and a nice quiet room overlooking the lovely garden. We didn't eat in the restaurant but had a nice breakfast each morning. Nice Elemis products to use too.
Excellent breakfasts, we had great evening meals as well. The hotel is family run and they really made us welcome. It’s a really old inn, loads of character. Bed was really comfy. They made our dog welcome, even gave him a sausage for breakfast
We enjoyed a fabulous 3 night stay at the Ellerby inn. Great room, super food, fantastic selection of beers etc at the bar. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be panning a return trip in the future.
Lovely hotel pub with a warm welcome and delightful friendly staff. The room was beautiful and the breakfast excellent I regret that we did not get to eat in the restaurant as it looked very good. Perhaps next time.
Everything was amazing! So clean and cosy inside. The outside is so pretty and well kept. The staff were so lovely, friendly and well experienced. Overall, I loved staying at the ellerby and we will be back!
The location was great. Ellerby is a small pretty village, close to Runswick Bay and tucked away from the crowds.
The staff and new owner were fabulous! Also the pub dog!
I have been coming to stay at the ellerby for years now- never changes! Brilliant place to stay just outside Whitby - will definitely be returning again.
