We stayed for 3 nights bed and breakfast and evening meal from arrival to departure the staff were absolutely amazing so hard working and friendly. A young girl called paige stood out her energy, she was so warm and friendly and couldn't do enough for everyone that she spoke to. Definitely be back excellent value for money.

Breathtakingly beautiful! A joy to be walking in the hills, enjoying God’s outstanding creation! We stayed at the spectacular New Dungeon Ghyll and from there, we started our first wild camping adventure near Stickle Tarn as a married couple.

Probably the most scenic part of the Lake District.
Probably the most scenic part of the Lake District. Plenty of places to stay or eat. The road is quite narrow in places which means it can be slow going at times (especially weekends) . Bus service every 2 hours along the valley. Car Parks a plenty but can fill up very quickly, especially at weekends.

Beautiful surroundings.
Beautiful surroundings. An ideal stopover for walking the Cumbria Way.
A warm welcome from Finn and Marina in the very comfortable New Dungeon Ghyll hotel with good beer and excellent food.
The local National Trust bar called Sticklebarn is next door to the hotel which is warm and inviting and serves refreshments and food until 5:30pm. The choice of real ales is also very good.
There is nothing else here except beautiful scenery, sheep and walks. It has everything one needs.

The great langdales has to be the most perfect place in the UK , outstanding for anyone who loves the outdoors, there are plenty of walks, hiking, climbing, scrabbling, the most beautiful scenery at every glance.
The manager (I think) who checked me in went out of his way to make sure everything was ok from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. He also made room for us at dinner (we'd forgotten to book and it was fully booked). The cleaner was also freindly and happy to help when I could'nt find the towels (they were in a cupboard in the room but I hadnt checked!). A number of walks could be done straight from the hotel - this was fantastic. Close to Grasmere and Ambleside - brilliant.
Classic old Lake District hotel. Don't expect frills, but the beds are comfy and the rooms are warm (and it was well below freezing outside; I'd come to do some winter mountaineering). There was quite a bit of noise from a boisterous evening in the bar in my room, but nothing wrong with that - if I'd not planned to be up early I'd have gone and joined in! My price included breakfast but I left before they started serving so can't comment on the food.
Have visited the ODG on many occasions and always wanted to stay here. It was fantastic. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Rooms are exceptionally comfortable. Of course, the location is absolutely amazing, perfect for walks and enjoying the scenery of Great Langdale. There is a good selection of real ale on the bar, all well kept. And, we were lucky enough to stay during the week of the folk festival, which was great.
Gorgeous hotel, in a beautiful location. Our room was lovely, very clean, and extremely comfortable. Excellent shower in our room. Mark, Megan, and all of their colleagues were very polite, efficient, and attentive. Food was great. Met lovely people in Climbers Bar & on the outside terrace. Very dog friendly. Lots of parking spaces. Great value for money. We can't wait for our next visit.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Morning breakfasts were delicious and the waitress was very lovely and served us in great time even during a very busy morning.
Location was amazing and quiet, the hidden waterfall behind the hotel was a great hike. A short drive from nearby town, made for
gorgeous scenery on route to the hotel.
I asked for a quiet room which I was very happy with. The hotel is good, staff are friendly and helpful, and the location is fabulous. The tables at the front of the hotel catch the sun in the afternoon and early evening, and are great for well deserved drink from the bar after a day on the hills.
Great location for exploring Langdale valley and mountains. After a day hiking in challenging weather the adjoining Walkers Bar with its fire and decent bar was welcome. Good food too. Choice of eating in Walkers bar or in the restaurant. My room was spot on. Didn't want for anything.
We had a nice welcome, the room was as expected, a good size. The evening meal was lovely, and the full Cumbrian breakfast was delicious.
The location of the new dungeon Ghyll is unbeatable, right in the very heart of the Langdales, so many walking routes from the doorstep.
The room was spotlessly clean and cozy. The bathroom and toilet looked brand new. The owners were so kind and accommodating. I had a great sleep on the night before my hike for a great price of £65
Location hotel area downstairs lovely building.
Staff very friendly and professional.
Good value for money for what we paid but that was due to the time of year and not being a weekend.
A beautiful hotel in a lovely area. Perfect views, exceptional staff and delicious food. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Bar area with board games had a lovely touch too!
