There was a wide choice on the breakfast menu.
The dinner menu was changed daily with a good number of choices for each course. Everything we had was very tasty and well presented.
The staff were very friendly and obliging.

Room was full of character, spacious and well furnished. The location was perfect for exploring Hadrians wall. It was very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was generous, good quality with lots of variety. We enjoyed chatting to other guests at breakfast.

Maybe it looks strange that we gave each question 10 points, but any point deserved it. We are travelling three weeks through England and mostly Scotland, but up to now Kate's and Ian's house was the most so comfortable, beautiful, tasteful and relaxing that we were so happy. How stupid that we only stayed one night, all other guests do longer and some are there for the fourth time. And our hosts are so wonderful. How ever could I choose less than 10 points.
And the landscape... So nice and beautiful. And silent... Only the birds sing too loud :)
Kate and Ian: thanks so much!

Panoramic views of truly great countryside. Even with less then perfect weather, the view made you think you owned the world.

The farm location is a bit isolated but beautiful. An excellent pub is a mile or two away for a very pleasant dinner. When you drive back to the main road you face a dramatic escarpment with Hadrian's wall running along the top and visible for miles.
It was the best view in the area. The large farm is an active place with animals and the three household dogs as a charming greeting committee. It would be an exciting place for children. Nicola had taken great care to provide anything necessary in the flat.

For 2 people it is very spacious. There were many great little touches like milk in fridge and complimentary cereals and chocolate. Beautiful location. Pub next door that served fantastic food. Great friendly staff. Cottage was lovely. Cant wait to go back.

It was very convenient for the Pennine Way, and we could book an evening meal in the Inn.

Haltwhistle was a great location to access Hadrians wall and the Roman forts , we were there on May bank holiday Sunday and almost all the town was shut up except a couple of restaurants and a co op shop. On BH Monday there was one pub serving food and they had shut the kitchen by 7.15 pm having run out of food. I found the town deserted which was a shame. We ate in Jethros cafe on the Sunday night which was great , lovely food and waitresses , can recommend that cafe.

The town is marketed as being the geometric centre of Great Britain. It may well be. It is ideally situated a short drive from Hexham and roughly midway between Carlisle and Newcastle. It is a small town close to Hadrian's Wall and the associated ancient sites. Nightlife is limited as one might expect from a small town. Well worth a visit.

We only spent one night but it is in a perfect spot for visiting Hadrian's Wall. It is near the best museum- Vindolanda and the best section of the wall (Cawfield Quarry) if you want to get a good taste of the Wall but only have a limited amount of time, like we did.

I was walking Hadrian's Wall so it was great that we had the pub on our doorstep for our evening meal and the property was so close to the Hadrian's Wall path. It was lovely being in such clean air in the heart of Northumberland National park.
The location was perfect. Near to the Roman forts we were visiting along Hadrian's Wall and right in the centre of Haltwhistle close to shops, pubs etc. We had been sent the code for the entrance door and had no problem accessing the property. The first floor room was small but very cosy and comfortable; we really appreciated the small refrigerator in our room and especially the fresh milk for tea and coffee instead of the silly little plastic pots normally available!
We were walking Hadrians Wall with friends and met them at Haltwistle - we all; stayed at The Manor House. The owner and staff go the extra mile to make you welcome and even have a FREE shuttle bus to take you back to the wall to continue your walk(Haltwistle is a good 2 miles away and that is a long walk at the end of a 14-16 mile day). Very nice, clean bedrooms, crisp linens and big white towels - more like a good hotel than rooms in a pub so above expectation.
I thought we would be miles from anywhere but we were in a good location to explore Hadrian's Wall and well place to head north to Alnwick etc. The food was good and a great choice for breakfast that negated the need for lunch but we had it anyway. Parking was either directly outside the hotel or at the end of the road so not the issue we expected. Great value for money.
We had the Vindolanda apartment. There were three of us. The apartment was great and would be great for a family. We had bikes that were locked in a small outdoor area at the side of the hotel. We ate both nights in the hotel and the food was good. Good range of beer on offer. Lovely breakfast. Helpful staff. Very convenient for cycling Hadrian's Cycleway.
This is a lovely family farm not too far from Haltwhistle and Hadrian's Wall. We had a big room with walk in shower. Breakfast was in the main house and it was really really good! The proprietor picked us up at the train and then showed us the walking paths to get back to town and up to Hadrian's wall. I would love to return to this amazing place.
Everything else. Amazing breakfast, friendly, comfortable, great location, quiet, good recommendations on things to do, working farm, few other rooms, excellent Covid precautions, lovely garden and tea house, good fishing nearby, walking path to Haltwhistle, friendly, good in-room facilities, views, whirlpool bathtub, and especially, friendly!
Cosy cottage in the centre of Haltwhistle with everything needed for a few days in this superb part of the world. Cosy sitting room with wood burner stove and perfect sofa for winding down after a day walking the wall.
Very comfortable bed and excellent shower.
Imagine the conservatory and garden would be lovely in warmer, drier weather 😊
This is a great little hotel. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful. David is very knowledgeable of the area. Leigh made me feel like I was more than just another random guest. The food is fantastic. Really just a great little hotel. If I ever make it back to this side of the world again, definitely staying here again.
We had a very nice stay at this hotel. Our room was maisonette style with the beds upstairs, all was clean, modern and functional. The dinner we had was outstanding. Staff were friendly and helpful. The Hotel is in a great location near Hadrian's Wall in the lovely town of Haltwhistle; I would not hesitate to come back one day.
Great location, comfortable beds. Good shower. The garden is a nice place to sit in, if you're lucky with the weather like we were. Alan who looks after the three cottages was really friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
Haltwhistle itself is the perfect location for visiting Hadrian's Wall, Vindolanda etc.
The location was great.Very close to Haltwhistle and the farm was in a lovely situation. The accommodation was in a converted part of the farm outbuilding and extremely comfortable and homely. The breakfast was exeptional and the omlettes were the best i have ever had.We were so delighted with it we have booked again
We are regular visitors to Haltwhistle (wife was born there and went to school in this building when it was the local primary school ). We have stayed at several hotels or B&Bs. This was by far the best and we’ll be staying again. Rooms very tastefully refurbished and excellent, inventive breakfast choices
The breakfast was up to any 5 star hotel i have visited, with the biggest full English, and veggie English in the known universe. Home made bread, muesli, granola, fruit salad, and waffles .Ian and Kate were superb, and could not have been more helpful. comfortable lounge with flat screen TV and books.
Great location lots to do near by for family's handy for cycle path to Haltwhistle and open air pool also good links for other attractions with in an hours drive . Comfortable cozy cottage. Plenty of space in the garden for kids to run around and very safe. Lovely views and very peaceful.
What a lovely place - well appointed, spacious and adjoining a great pub. We were walking Hadrian's Wall and the location couldn't be better. The owners were very hospitable - even to the extent of offering to drive me back to Haltwhistle to retrieve my car! Highly recommend.
One of the cleanest hotel rooms I have stayed in! Very cozy and comfortable bed. Easy check in with self service. The fresh milk in the fridge was a lovely touch for the tea and coffee. The bath towels were enormous and very fresh smelling too.
Charming hosts, brilliant bothy, all needs were anticipated, and what a location!! Perfect for a solo traveler, near all the top Hadrian's Wall stops, and Haltwhistle a postcard pretty and walkable village. Full marks!
Lovely rural location but easy to get to facilities in Haltwhistle nearby, and a great base for exploring Hadrian's Wall. Cottage was very clean and comfortable, with a great view over the countryside.
Everything was provided. Rear garden was good for the dog. Excellent location for dog walks out the back of property.
Haltwhistle has everything you need with good transport connections.
