The breakfasts were excellent. The variety leaves no-one disappointed. The price at £15 was excellent value. The hotels proximity to the Beamish Museum Park is the best in the area.

Very good size room and comfortable, with a four-poster and two lounge chairs. Very good size bathroom and well appointed, with Italian soaps. Very nicely furnished, L-shaped bar, allowed for a "sports" end and a quiet end.

From the moment we were greeted upon our arrival by Christine (and her beautiful dogs Barney and Spencer) it was clear this was going to be a special stay. We were given clear and concise information regarding the property and our room, as well as being offered a delightful and much needed pot of tea and biscuits which were taken in the glorious living room with magnificent views across the lawns. We felt as if we'd been invited on a country house weekend with all the luxury, peace and tranquility that entails. The room was spacious, the furniture and fittings superb and the bed extremely comfortable. Flasks of milk, a variety of teas and coffees, a selection of biscuits and even a coffee machine added to the comfort of the room. The property is set within many acres of land and on the first morning Barney and Spencer took us on a tour of the grounds which included woodland walks, a visit to the piggery and a lot of tennis ball and stick throwing! Breakfast was excellent with a selection of delicious fresh summer fruits, cereals, yoghurts, fruit juice and toast, together with a wide selection of cooked options including home reared pork sausages and bacon, smoked salmon, together with eggs of your choice. Added enjoyable features were a full sized snooker table, fascinating conversations with other guests over breakfast at a large communal table and a wide variety of bird species in the immedaite environs. Thank you Christine and your family for a delightful stay. We will certainly be back!

The overall design of the lodge was really beautiful. For example the entire lodge had stunning lighting & it was also really spacious too.

we loved our stay at the cottage, Charmian is a lovely host and so helpful. it is very dog friendly, with an enclosed garden. laurel cottage is very spacious and spotlessly clean, we had everything we needed for our stay and more. The Chinese restaurant opposite is amazing, and lanchester, 5 mins drive away has everything you could need for meals, dog walks or just a pop to the local shops, we have visited friends in the area twice a year for the last 15years so have stayed at a few places, but i would say that this is one of the best that we have stayed at and would defiantly love to stay again in the future.
