Penrose Bed & Breakfast, hotel in Lostwithiel

Penrose Bed & Breakfast is a Victorian property with original features such as fireplaces, chandeliers and high ceilings.

Amazingly decorated room, large bathroom, lots of space to store your clothes. Delicious and more than generous breakfasts. Chris and Heidi are excellent hosts. He kindly picked us up at the train station as they live at the top of a steep hill. But what views!

Tiny romantic cottage for two., hotel in Lostwithiel

Featuring garden views, Tiny romantic cottage for two. Provides accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 2 km from Restormel Castle.

Loved everything about this quirky cottage. Its in a tucked away location yet an easy walk into the village with a good selection of pubs, restaurants and shops. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you might need for a self catering break. The sumptuous bed made it difficult to get up in the mornings and being in such welcoming surroundings I wanted to lingerer and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the cottage. However if you can drag yourself away its well placed for exploring with plenty of beaches and attractions nearby. Don't be put off by the lack of parking, its really not a problem as there is plenty of on street parking close by.

Westberry Hotel, hotel in Lostwithiel

Nestled in the town of Bodmin, The Westberry Hotel features free WiFi and outdoor dining in the secluded garden during the summer.

Nice to find a hotel with single rooms. The location is on a corner of residential streets just out of the town centre, perfectly located for the Camel Trail. The staff were really helpful in locking away my bike. The restaurant has a nice elevated view over the west edge of the town and the Vietnamese food was excellent.

Lostwithiel is in a good position for day trips to other parts of Cornwall. Favourite restaurant was Sam’s fish restaurant in Fowey. Duchy Nursery 1.5 miles from Chy Bowdner cottage & walk from there to Restomel Castle worth a visit

Lots of shops and restaurant very quiet over Christmas and facilities shut. However, before and after Christmas hols very interesting with lots of restaurants and little shops. Church offered Midnight Mass. We booked for Duchy of Cornwall restaurant for all our lunches, which was fabulous as well as shop full of Bungalow items and garden plants and pots etc Christmas gifts galore! . Booked for Christmas Lunch at Michell's in Polperro, lovely Pate and Christmas pudding was light and lovely, this restaurant was only 20 mins away by car with car parking. Lostwithiel has lots of lovely country side with many places to walk and explore. We intend to revisit.

Pictuesque old town once you turn off the main road. However, be aware many of the roads are very narrow and some are very steep. Some junctions are impossible to drive around, so dont trust your satnav!

We wanted to stay in a smallish village while sightseeing in the area, and Lostwithiel suited. The Royal Oak was easy to get to, directly off the main entry road and parking was available on-site. Room was comfortable, with nice views. Staff and locals were friendly - even offering to walk me to the local Co-Op store in case I couldn't find it (maybe my 60+ years made them think I would get lost in the 3 blocks walk lol). Nice walk down by the River Fowey too (photo). Photos of view from room and The Royal Oak from the street.

It was clean and functional, nice shower, fridge and freezer. The garden area is also lovely and the water feature could be meditated on for hours. The owner popped in to find out how we were fixed for leaving, rather than scowling and muttering darkly about timings. Very friendly, and the arrangements for gaining entry were similarly relaxed. Solid WiFi is great given the reception issues in that area. Great value if you just need a base rather than a more hotel-like experience for which you would pay a lot more.

The property is a self contained little flat in the garden of the main property which has its own entrance and is very quiet. Annalie was really helpful and flexible, even proactively offering a later checkout. The place is small but has everything you need. While there isn't a dedicated parking space, there was plenty of on road parking nearby so isn't an issue. Would definitely recommend a stay.
