Beautiful interior of cottage. Comfy and delightful to stay in. We had excellent weather, but had it been bad, there was loads of interesting looking reading material to browse.
Alex was friendly and made us feel welcome.
That bath is quite special!
We loved the location, up the chapel path.

Most of all we were genuinely touched by how friendly and helpful people are there. When we were in Cemlyn nature reserve, we started chatting with a local and we mentioned that we are from Slovenia and that we would like to see some cliffs. He pointed some great ones for us to see. After saying goodbye we headed slowly to our car. Behind windshield wiper we found hand drawn map of the way to cliffs. We couldn't even speak!
The nature is really amazing. Maybe we were lucky that we booked our trip in april because there were not many tourists and we had pleasent experience. But nevertheless people would always be great there, I'm sure.

Machynlleth is a great town to visit, but very quiet on Mondays with a lot of shops/cafes closed. MOMA is great for those enjoying gallery space and there are several antique shops for browsers. The Deli near the clock tower has wonderful offerings, sadly the kitchen was closed the day of my visit but I left with bags of goodies to eat later. Wednesday is the day to visit when the market takes over the wide main main street.

I've been in love with Machynlleth for decades and will literally tell anyone to go there. Except don't, because I'd like to keep it for myself please. The highlight of one of this year's trips was the Machynlleth comedy festival which I'd not made it to before but was superb. Easy access to incredible beaches and incredible countryside. Some of the best (Michelin starred) restaurants in the country from Ynyshir to SY23 in Aberystwyth. Great shopping - definitely always make time to pop in the Deco Shop.

If you like the peace and quiet away from people with great views from every window. Sheep in the fields to watch. But close enough to everything you need ie restaurants, takeaways, pubs, walks, beach, shops etc then you’ll enjoy it as much as we did. You also had all of the amenities and equipment to cook for yourselves if that appeals.

If you want to get away from the current troubles all around...
If you want to get away from the current troubles all around the world this is a good place to be! It has all the amenities needed along with a wonderful sense of stability and sanity. I felt refreshed on leaving - as I always do over 50 years of visiting this beautiful town. I will be back!
The Co-op has a great store within a store for all sorts of bargains - like leather belts for €6 and quality copy perfumes for €4! And the nicest assistant ever!
To everyone who complains in the comments about the small house, the inconvenient entrance to the bed, the hot water in the shower, the basic hot tub - It's time to go back to the retirement home and it's time to choose four or five star hotels where you will get everything on a plate. The location of the house itself is breathtaking, literally like in a picture. We are thinking of visiting again. Thank you for everything.
Great breakfast, comfy bed, helpful staff, spacious car park, quiet rooms despite being above a pub, doors that didn't slam which was handy as we got back quite late and didn't want to disturb other guests. The family room was actually two rooms, a compact double and a small single, great for privacy for older kids or adults sharing. Warm welcome and the bar also serves food and hot drinks during the day.
Great quiet road - was worried about on toad parking but no problem as no through traffic. Everything we needed in cottage. Machynlleth is great little town as a base for exploring mid/ north wales. Very friendly . Heenigans great fish and chips , wynnastay hits great food. We normally stay in the country but it was great to be able to wander into town
Breakfast was delicious and served in an elegant music room complete with grand piano in line with the opera theme.
Nigel, the front of house, was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the hotel. Lovely, quirky small hotel set in beautiful surroundings with amazing views from the bedroom balconies.
Penrhosmawr is ideally located for visiting Machynlleth and the surrounding area.
Our room was large and comfortable. It even had fresh milk in the fridge.
It was lovely to sit in front of the log fire in the shared guest lounge on a cold, wet November evening.
A really good cooked breakfast set us up for our day.
The room looked recently renovated. En suite smart and clean. Whole building was clean and fresh. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Food excellent both breakfast and evening meal. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Machynlleth.
Lovely room, luxurious bathroom. In a very convenient location for Machynlleth Comedy festival, 10mins drive. Host Rhian, was friendly and efficient. She supplied a hearty continental breakfast, including oat milk as per our online request.
Delicious evening meal with locally sourced and originally prepared ingredients. Very good breakfast. I really like the character of the Wynnstay in Machynlleth and it's a perfect place to break my journey up through Wales.
The countryside setting was idyllic especially with the nearby flock of sheep. Love the nearby narrow gauge RR and King Arthur attraction. Too bad the fast low flying jets weren't flying the Mach Loop while we were there!
Location, near the train station.
Machynlleth is a nice friendly town.
Beautiful view, to one side.
Relaxed environment.
Nice to meet other folk in a hostel environment and chat.
Great to be able to cook a meal.
What a great little Pub / hotel to stay at. Super friendly and helpful staff, comfortable well appointed room. Great meals at good prices too. Beautiful little town, definitely recommended.
Rhian is a great host. The property is sparkling clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was ordered in advance, was very filling and tasty. As I don't eat a cooled breakfast it suited me fine
Very quiet and welcoming, beautiful views and stunning location. Great base to explore the surrounding areas. Great shower and very comfortable bed, well stocked kitchen.
