The Park Hotel is in a quiet area, in the centre of this historic seaside town, 800 metres from Montrose Rail Station and the golf course. It has free parking, en suite rooms and a bar and restaurant....

Bedroom was up to expectations, plenty of space, nice clean bathroom. Buffet breakfast wasn’t great but in general they never are in many hotels.

The breakfast was not provided, the lady arrived late and dropped the orange juice and broke the jugs. I had no time to wait
The Beach was lovely, better than expected.
People are also very friendly.
EatING out was good at Roos Leap (dog-friendly at lunchtime). We also had good takeaways from Yum Yum and Chips N Things.

We stayed there as our son and partner where attending a wedding in Montrose we used it as a base , 20 mins from Arbroath lovely Cushing town selling the famous smokie everywhere, history in the lighthouse signal museum was good. We then travelled to Broughty Ferry, lovely promenade to walk all along, little boutique shops, castle, plenty restaurants and fish and chip shop
My 2 dogs behaved very well and loved staying here. I loved the Superb breakfast..1st rate Arbroath Smokie with 2 poached eggs... smoked salmon with perfect scrambled eggs..or standard Scottish breakfast...phew .. had each ... delicious way to start the day..fruit smoothie..yum. Beautiful entrance hall into the old Scottish hotel.. standard adequately equipped rooms, clean, with a pleasant and private view over the Links. Montrose is a handsome wee town with many things to do and see..the people are very courteous, kind and helpful.
The Limes Guest house was in a convenient location - under 10 mins walking from Montrose train station. I was greeted by a lovely owner, Jen who was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and helped to ensure I had an enjoyable stay throughout my time in town. Having stayed at the chain hotel a few nights before and breakfast being pretty average - I was genuinely surprised with the amazing breakfast standard Jen has offered - make sure you'll order yours, will not regret it!
The George is a small friendly hotel which is really convenient for the centre of Montrose and as a base for the surrounding area and attractions, including Montrose Basin Wildlife Centre and House of Dun. Also ideal to stay for when visiting cities of Aberdeen and Dundee as Montrose is about halfway between the two. Lovely staff and comfortable, warm, clean room. Good breakfast available to set you up for a day of exploring! Also great value for money.
Kristy (I believe that was our hostess’s name) was absolutely lovely and so gracious. The room and bathroom were spotless and the bed so comfortable. breakfast was cooked to order and so reasonable. the property itself is so beautiful, and very homey — not like a museum. The gardens outside are so pretty and there’s a little reading/relaxing sunroom in it, for guests. Montrose is a “real” town, not a tourist town, but it is close to much to do!
The hotel overall was actually a really experience considering I was on a budget and staying with my mate in a twin room. The staff were also really welcoming and helpful. I would say for the extra £20 or so, it is worth getting a deluxe room. Of course, this isn't a 5 star hotel, so it wasn't mind-blowing, but it was very good for the price. Also, the location is good as the high street is a 30-second walk away with shops and takeaways.
Excellent breakfast and the location could not have been better with the town , Montrose Basin , and the beach all within walking distance. Having off-road parking was a bonus and although some have commented that exiting from the car park is hazardous we did not find that a problem. The road is wide, straight and very quiet.
The breakfast was excellent. If you stay at the hotel then you get a discount off the green fees at Montrose Links course. The hotel owner made us aware of this during our stay. Our room was nice, but there are rooms that overlook the golf course too.
Great location, very close to town centre, fast WiFi
Very clean rooms and communal spaces.
Very friendly staff and great hospitality. (Thank you both Adam and Elaine)
If I visit Montrose again, I will not go anywhere else for short or long stay.
It was immaculately clean and tidy. A quiet location, parking was right outside, had its own private outside space and it was very well presented throughout. Good location for exploring Montrose, it had everything we needed for our stay.
Lovely setting. We wanted to visit St Cyrus reserve so this was good stopover. We liked Montrose. The owner and staff at the hotel were super friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was excellent. We had a good night’s sleep
Fabulous hotel, lovely to have a bed and bowls for my four-legged companion.
The restaurant was excellent and the portion sizes were amazing.
Would thoroughly recommend staying here.
Liked the hotel was close to center of town. Breakfast not up to our expectations. However, dinner was excellent. Our waitress was amazing. She was very friendly and helpful.
Welcoming, friendly, accommodating and generous. Very comfortable room, and excellent breakfast. Would go to montrose just for a stay at the hermitage.
