Hilton Garden Inn Abingdon Oxford, hotel in Steventon

The Hilton Garden Inn Abingdon Oxford is 1.6 km from the centre of Abingdon, with a selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars all within a 20 minute walk from the property.

Very friendly staff, facilities were good, restaurant was good but menu choice could have been better, all in all a comfortable stay, one issue I have is paying for car parking, I guess most hotels charge nowadays but it is just another case of guest’s getting ripped off especially when I am a member of Hilton Honours which should be free but because I booked through a third party (reception’s words), I had to pay £10 a night, again why should we get ripped off for parking on hotel property.

Lots of lovely walks, lots of history, buses to Oxford,...

Lots of lovely walks, lots of history, buses to Oxford, Didcot, trains to Bath etc. We mainly ate at "The Cherry Tree" where we stayed, but we also tried "Mira Spice" the local Indian just down the road from The Cherry Tree and had an excellent meal. We also tried the pub next door "The Fox" and had the most wonderful macaroni cheese, Cherry Tree had a pub quiz on the Monday evening which we entered not expecting to do very well, but with half the pub helping we didn't do too badly. The main reason for us going to Steventon was to go to steam train museums, one in Swindon, one in Didcote and one in Pendon, other than that we did a lot of walking discovering the local area.
