The location is great, nice and cool in summer, even a bit chilly during the night in May.
As the water of the river was still cold to wade through we hiked up to the old bridge. There is no map readily available but the hotel owner will explain how to get to the beginning of the trail, which from there onward is easily recognisable by the red marks. It's a steep climb of about 1 hour, after the first bridge (concrete) which you cross over the beautiful wild, clear turkoois waterfall, you'll reach the second, old bridge. You can continue much further but we didnt get further than that.

The hotel is in an incredible nice surrounding. Parga is at 44 km distance, Lefkada at 60 km. The reception is down near the pool, not inside as I expected first. The people in the hotel are adorable, they called our attention over some things we didn't know but had access. They served for us the breakfast at our preferred time, at the pool. About the pool, it is not heated, but in temperatures over 30 C it is not necessary. Overall, a very very positive experience!

The house is really beautiful and you have an amazing view. All the installations work very good and the bett is very comfortable.
It is a bit far away but if you have a car or transport you enjoy the ride because the nature is amazing and also we discovered new places to visit because of the landlord who is definitely super friendly and a funny guy. You should ask him for the turtle farm ;)
Fully recommend!

Froso welcomed us very friendly. She explained everything. Very nice hotel directly at the beach, with parking place. We stayed for 14 days in Vrachos. The room was very clean, it was cleaned every day. We went to different restaurants in the area at night. With Greek cuisine, very tasty. We made some excursions: Kayaking on the river Acheron, dolphin watching tour, Nikopolus. We drove to some villages around and visited Preveza and Parga. Very nice vacation. Thank you.
During the summer it's perfect. But starting off season everything closes and while it remains a perfect autumn and winter destination, there's not much to do besides walking and exploring. It should have more autumn/winter/spring activities, as it is on the perfect spot for Acheron river, and very central to many sightseeings around.

The acheron river walk is for fit people if you want to go...
The acheron river walk is for fit people if you want to go right up river, but you don't need to go all the way up, the scenery is breathtaking, there is also a zip line over the river, rafting for all and kayaking for the brave, also ponytrecking available, we enjoyed it all and went most of the way up the river, I am a fittish 62 year old and my wife is almost 50, our feet were sore after walking over the stones, so trainers are recommended and do take a waterproof bag as some swimming is needed the further up you go, although initially freezing the water does get warmer further up, probably because you become acclimatised, well worth the drive from nydri

A beautiful area.
A beautiful area. We visited the Watermill at Souli which was lovely to see and discovered a very nice little taverna just a few meters downstream which provided simple but delicious food at very reasonable prices.
River walking in the Acheron river is certainly something that I would recommend
