Katakolon is the main port for cruise liners where guests are visiting Olympia and seems geared up largely for this purpose. It is quite a pleasant seaside town but nothing exceptional. When we were there there were no cruise ships in port and it was very quiet. All of the seafront restaurants and bars were open so we had our pick, but a lot of the shops were close for most of the time we were there.
Olympia is about a 30 minute drive from here.

Small city with port for big ship.
Small city with port for big ship. Worth visiting for few days. Close to nice beaches. Shops with beautiful clothes and other things (mostly not cheap, but you can find good deals). Good starting point to Olympia.

The town felt strange to us as it appears to only be set up for cruise ship customers. We did have a great lunch there ( Filia ) the first day but found once the cruise ship left almost everything closed in the town. The second day there was a significant storm and everything remained closed for the day as cruise ship customers did not disembark. There was only one restaurant open for lunch and it was a mediocre very overpriced meal.

We stayed there rather than at Olympia to be near the beach.
We stayed there rather than at Olympia to be near the beach. We did go to the beach and the water was amazing. But the beach itself was full of tire tracks.
The village receives huge cruise ships bound for Olympia and it is one strip of souvenir shops swamped with tourists.
I think we would have been better at Olympia.
This was an absolutely fantastic hotel. Location was excellent, on the beach, with lovely beach chairs and umbrellas set up. Pool was beautiful. But most important staff was truly excellent - hospitable, friendly, doing everything to make us comfortable - including preparing special meals for our needs!
Convenient and just a few mins walk to the center of the village. The hotel is on the older side and can understand the previous reviews. My stay was one night and was just fine for me, and the price. The family owned/friendliness of the staff and the charm of the hotel out weighs the age of the hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Georgina. We stayed 2 days to visit Olympia and Katakolo.
Rooms are charming and very comfortable. The garden is beautiful and the swimming pool was well appreciated by our kids.
The owner is really kind and helpfull.
The home made breakfast is very good
The hotel is located close to the sea and almost all rooms have a beautiful view of the bay and the mountains in the distance. Rooms are quite spacious, with wide beds.
I would like to add that the owners allowed the use of the kitchen, although it is not provided by the conditions.
Wonderful breakfast with homemade sourdough and sourdough chocolate cake.
We stayed in the Attic room. Owner was friendly. It is a port town and thankfully we were there when the cruise ships were not at port. The hotel is centrally located. can walk to the harbor and harbor cafes.
We loved the location! Such a stunning place for the sunsets, they were the highlight. Breakfast was beautiful with freshly squeezed orange juice. This place is a gem in Greece's crown. Staff were quite friendly especially Vlad at the bar. Thank you for your kind hospitality.
Hotel location is on top of the hill and it's bar has an breath-taking view. Hotel is very quiet. Rooms are very well built and spacious, the bed was also very good. Air condition worked flawlessly and cool the room very efficiently, we enjoyed a very relaxed sleep.
Spacious room, a terrace in front, gorgeous sea view, fully equipped kitchenette (you can cook), good breakfast in a modern dining room, friendly staff, absolutely clean. The property is 15min by foot from Katakolon quay area with restaurants, bars and shops.
The house was excellent, large, clean, fully featured, perfectly placed. The host was very friendly and careful. The paddle board was a nice bonus. Very close to the Katakolo Port, where you can find several atractions. Kotsanas Museum very interesting too.
The hotel is located on land of historical importance, where the ancient Olympic athletes arrived by their ships. The hotel has a lovely family story with an intention to continuously improving and extending it’s services.
The hotel should be rated 4 stars easily. The room was huge and very well
equipped, I would say superb. A real porch looking on the olive plantation.
Great place with very efficient staff.
The treatment from the sisters that manage the business was fantastic. They were really nice and helpful. The room was stunning at the level of a 5 star hotel. Thanks for everything
