Kavala is a great Aegean port town, not too little, not too big. It offers an amazing value for travelers since it has great bars, cafes and restaurants at a very reasonable price. It has something for everyone, history, culture, shopping, cuisine. There are some luxury places and some cheap (yet very good) places. In the summer also offers easily accessible beaches.

A great city!
A great city! The old town is beautiful and the views of the city are amazing! The center is easily walkable and the shops combine both big chains as well as small local shops, so everyone can find what they are looking for. There are a myriad of options for coffee or food. We had the best fish in Kavala!
Lastly, the beaches were by far the best in Northern Greece, with fine sand and crystal clear waters! All in all, it is definitely worth a visit!

Great historic sites, beaches and Greek restaurants with authentic food and local wine options. The city is busy and parking can be an issue but if you are happy to walk and sightsee and immerse yourself in the culture, it is a fantastic spot!

A beautiful city with picturesque town planning.
A beautiful city with picturesque town planning. An interesting piece of history. Variety of shops, delicious food, fresh seafood. Fresh fruits and vegetables. Every Saturday there is a large market in the city with agricultural products of producers from the region.
Parking problems. Not enough parking spaces. There are only three paid parking lots in the central part. One of them is by the port, which is quite far from the city center.
Our stay with Varvara was great! She kindly came to pick us up from the bus station and welcomed us into the hosue. The house was equipped with everything we may ever need and had a lovely terrace to relax and enjoy some quality time together. Very close to shops and the beach and extremely clean. The house is up a hill, however, so it may not be the best for people with mobility issues as the route is quite steep. We had access to lovely beaches and Kavala was beautiful.
Would highly recommend staying in Alcmene's house!
A wonderful spontaneous and warm welcome at The Anthemion House, an explanation of what was worth seeing in Kavala. Beautiful room + room with sofa bed and a super large bathroom. A lovely balcony at the front. A bottle of white wine as a welcome, water in the fridge. More than excellent breakfast. Just a very good modern hotel 5 minutes from the harbor and boulevard. 2 minutes walk from the center. A nice farewell gift upon departure. If we go back to Kavala we will definitely go to The Anthemion House again.
We specifically requested a room with a queen bed at a higher level with a sea view - all of these were taken into consideration, so thank you for that :) Breakfast was ok as far as variety is concerned. The room was clean and we were able to use the air conditioning for heating - we stayed in Kavala in April, so it was a bit chilly. Free parking was offered by the hotel, so that was a nice bonus. The furniture in the room is new, and the bed is comfortable. The staff was very kind.
We had a wonderful staying! The house was extremely spacious and cosy, the perfect place to let you escape the daily life and enjoy a lovely holiday, yet to feel home! The host was the kindest and good hearted, ready to asist with everything any time. The area was colourful, green, friendly, and with easy access to other faciloties, the town of Kavala, and wonderful beaches around! We are very grateful and would definitely visit again!
A perfectly beautiful location with a peaceful and inspiring view of Kavala city. The reception was so caring and kind, the hotel has the professionalism of a long running establishment, and a friendly hospitality of a family welcome. I will definitely stay here any chance I come to Kavala. The birds, fresh air and green and blue sea view in the morning made us feel connected to nature, while being so close to Kavala.
It was super clean, right in the middle of the city. Very helpful host. Find a free parking spot within walking distance (and it is important in kavala). Host helped with every question we have (from beach suggestions to USD Change) Bank Of Greece has a branch 10 m away (no commission for the change ☺️). It is a classic greek house with high ceilings and blue white colors.

Absolute recommendation! Dolphin is a hidden gem in the midst of Kavala, in extremely suitable location(8 minutes easy path to the beach) and the hosts are the best people you can ever meet! The guests have as much privacy as they want, but the hosts will always help and be kind to you if you need help! Do not hesitate, solid 10/10 !
Location was the center of the Kavala!(Kavala Marina) You are staying in a yacht with a exceptionally helpful host (Max). Rooms were clean but of course a little bit narrower than a hotel room but this is something normal because you stay in Yacht. Breakfast was really good and I like the main living room in the yacht best.
The rooms are very comfortable and clean
You have everything in the room from kettle to fork, from pan to coffee machine
Welcoming with cookies (local, delicious Kavala kurabiye) and a bottle of wine in the room as complimentary was very warm and kind
Staff was very helpful and kind all the time
We loved Everything! The view from the balcony was spectacular. The beds were comfortable and the best pillows we’ve had in the three months we’ve been in Greece. The room was well furnished with everything you need. Internet was fast, snacks and a nice bottle of wine from our wonderful host.
The Anthemion Team were fantastic! We had problems with the car whilst travelling to Greece, which meant we had to change booking times. They were very accommodating and supportive. Perfect communication with them in English. Room was fantastic as well. Would definitely stay again.
Violet City Apartments were perfect. The rooms were amazing, super clean and very spacious. The suits were located in the center of Kavala, it was easy to walk everywhere. The hosts were super friendly and easy to reach.
The host was exceptional! Just like having family in Greece! I cannot overemphasize the hospitality given.
The property was immaculately kept and with full appliances and air conditioning.
This is a very nice and private boutique hotel right in the center of Kavala, with all historical landmarks nearby. This is a perfect place for a short weekend trip to the area.
Beautiful renovation ultra modern fit out.
