The breakfast at Madares Restaurant (directly downstairs from our rooms) was great! But it was apparently not included in the room rate we paid.. Once we had checked in, the hotel was very familiar to us, as we had stayed in the same rooms five years ago (2018), but at that time they were sold as Madares Hotel rooms, not Anna Hotel! I'm still confused by the name change. When I asked the staff, they said: "Yes, the Madares Anna Hotel." :-D We LOVED the location (as we had before).. the view from the balcony of the village and the bay.. the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, both the maids and the servers in the restaurant..

It’s a pretty and lively place, only accessible by boat. The town is a nice place to enjoy food and drink. We found Ilios to be the best restaurant and the bar on the far right (looking from the sea) to be an enjoyable place for a drink or two. The best things about the place, for us, were the immediate access to the E4 hiking route and the multiple boat trips to nearby beaches Glika Nera and Marmara. Glika Nera is fabulous if not too crowded. Try the home made Kolokithokeftedes (courgette balls) with a little Tzatziki at the taverna on the jetty. Yum!

I have been coming for years, it is a special and magical place. I love Sweetwater beach, the best stuffed tomatos ever. The local folk are welcoming and friendly, the sea clear and the whole place spotless. Lots of eateries and bars and mini markets to cater for all needs. You can access adjoining beaches and tiny villages via foot and ferry. the taxi Sfakia company provide superb airport pick ups and safe rides over the mountains to the ferry at Sfakia for Loutro.

Loutro is just beautiful and very peaceful especially in the evening. All the places we ate were good and there is a very good choice of tavernas. It's equally great for walkers and for relaxing, swimming, reading etc.
The ferry boat sail from Paleochora is really pleasant and picturesque. Loutro is easy to get around and there are little boats to take one to Marmara beach where there is amazing clear water for swimming and a cafe.
We loved it.

A unique and charming village, accessible by boat from Hora Sfakia, with several small and cosy beaches, plenty of nice taverns with local food, friendly people. Although there are many visitors during the day, it was peaceful and authentic. Prices were regular and I did not encounter any "tourist traps". Could have stayed for months...

the beach and water are incredible ones of the best on the island. there are several small restaurants where you can enjoy Cretan cuisine, try the local delicacy of sfakiani pita with honey. it can get very busy especially on weekends with several boats throughout the day so get there early and find a good spot on the beach. at night it's quite so good for families. I would recommend a one or two night stay , definitely a place to relax.

We stayed in Loutro for two days not nearly long enough to give a proper review but the restaurants we visited were fantastic, it only takes 15 minutes to walk from one end of the bay to the other. I would recommend if you're planning on going in the sea to take a pair of Beach shoes as the beach is pebbles.
It was in such an amazing and remote part of Crete. The owners and staff were amazing and the food fantastic!! I cannot thank them enough for everything. If you want to get away from it all and enjoy their taverna with ingredients from their production (lamb, olive oil, honey, yogurt, cheese etc) this is your place! The natural surroundings and view of the Milky Way galaxy speak for themselves and how can you beat a place that you can really only get to by boat!
Don’t miss the surrounding beaches and caves!
Clean room, near the restaurant and beach, friendly staff, beautiful view. Really loved the colorscheme of the room, it was fresh, stylish and very relaxing.
A/C was also a great amenity considering the hot summer weather in Greece, and the room was a nice stop to relax and cool yourself down.
Daily cleaning was also great, considering that we even stayed for only 2 days. Was nice to always find a fresh set of sheets and everything in order.
Andreas & Dorothea couldn't do enough for us.
We arrived on 30/11/23 & found Loutro completly shut down. No bars ,no restaurants , no people . No problem.
Andreas cooked (very well) and could supply some much needed alcohol. He even provided lunch
for a German group with hungry kids who not even guests. Kudos to Andreas , he saved what could have been a disaster.
Do not go to Loutro after about 15 Nov , perhaps even earlier.

Amazing staff. Demetria (not sure the spelling) was incredible. She made the place feel more like a home than a hotel. The other staff were great also.
The restaurant was phenomenal. The food was very good. The cocktails were amazing. The view was unbeatable.
Location was great, just up from the ferry stop.
The room was clean and well appointed. It had a beautiful balcony.
It’s a magical place.
Definitely the best place to stay in Loutro!
The room had a wonderful view on the bay and the shower was awesome! Very clean, nicely decorated and big enough for two. The bed was good, which in Crete isn’t usual…
Uo to that, the owner (Giannis) and the staff (Andreas and the girl I forgot the name of, sorry) are really beautiful people. Thanks for a marvelous stay!
The staff were very welcoming and very eager to please. We were surprised to learn that the hotel has its own parrot, Coco, who is quite entertaining and sums up the vibe of the place, which is a little eccentric in a good way. For Loutro, it’s a good value place to stay. Breakfast was definitely a highlight and was included in the rate.
Optimal location, clean bathroom and helpful staff. The bar of the hotel is recommended even if you are not a guest of the hotel itself, as it has a very nice atmosphere, especially at night. The location is also great as it is the first hotel you see once you step out of the port but in any case everything in Loutro is max 2 min. away
The location is perfect- it's the first hotel you get to when you get off from the ferry. The bar/restaurant is so inviting with it unique and quaint decor. The hosts were wonderful to talk to and so accommodating. Will definitely stay here again when we go back to Loutro
Wonderful location, outstanding staff, comfortable but not luxurious accommodations, and, of course, lovely hostess Christina spent some time with us to actually get to know us in the short time we were there. We will always remember Christina and Loutro!
The location of this hotel is incredible.
The host is fantastic and could not do enough to make our stay so amazing, picking us up and dropping us off back in Loutro by boat with his dog.
The whole experience was incredible....
Hotel is really good. Everything we liked! It's always easy to find some of the things that could be better, but all in all I really can't say a single bad word. Any time I do again to loutro, I will try to take this hotel room.
We loved our stay at Villa Niki, I could sit and look at the view from the balcony all day. The rooms were even better than the photos, great aircon , thoroughly recommend if you're going to Loutro.
this property was in the heart of Luotro. The accommodations were comfortable and the front desk service was excellent. The breakfast was very good. we wish we could have stayed longer.
The management staff were friendly and eager to please. Hotel bar played soft jazz which was mellow and unobtrusive. The bed was a bit soft, but comfortable.
