Truth be told, it was the one place I was least excited to be going to and the place I loved the most. The property is sitting in the middle of a lush mature olive grove with a magnificent view. The gardens are pristine and the love and attention put into this property is astounding. The cherry on the top is the play ground for the lovely birds. To see and hear these birds frolicking and chirping is like music to the ears. They dive into the aged old olive trees and make it their homes within all the holes and crevices. Staff was thoughtful and kind and food wonderful. This place is worth the drive to see it. If you want peace and quiet and beauty with an amazing mountain view......BOOK! I was in love with this place.

Excellent staff ans service. Spacious room very comfortable bed and sheets. Quiet and respect to the nature and to the guests. I loved the restaurant and for me is one of the best restaurant with local food I had in that region. Very good breakfast and will be back.

Hikers paradise! The team that took care of the guests were the highlight, they created a wonderful atmosphere for their guest. If you are there to hike or are walking the E4 you will be very surprised at the level of information and help you will receive. We can not speak highly enough about Maria, Yorgos and Stephanie. They have created a very special place to stay.

I could happily stay longer in the superb hotel, but mainly there is one sight to see in Mystras - the site of the old Byzantine city.
We spent longer there than anticipated; and if we had more time and energy we could have spent the entire day.
Drive to the top; see the citadel and the churches at the top. Drive to the bottom to see the rest of the site.
There is good information at the site, but prepare by reading up ahead and ideally have a good guidebook to make clear what to see at the site.

The Mystras Archeological Site is an extraordinary collection of Byzantine churches and ruins, built into and atop a steep mountain. Allow at least two hours and be prepared for lots of walking on slippery, uneven, steep surfaces. Worth it!
Tip: easy to park in Mystras main square, with multiple tavernas to choose from for lunch or dinner.

It's a small town or you can even call it a village.
It's a small town or you can even call it a village. Coffee drinks and food can be found in the center square of that village. Ideal location to visit the famous Castle city of Mystras and after that, regroup and continue your journey. If i may suggest, the route from there to Kalamata through Taygetos mountain (EO82) is amazing...

I am very sorry for the CONFUSION in my review particualrly of this place. UNFORTUNATELY we could only spend ONE night at this magical and extraordinary PYRGOS OF MYSTRA. It was one of the most memorable places I have stayed in. Our host MARIA excels in her efficiency and kindness. The whole place has an aura of serenity and peace. It is no doubt due to the staff but also the surroundings: a profusion of orange and lemon trees, paerfumed roses and a beautifully landscaped garden. The room is not only beautiful but extremely well equipped and it was the best shower during my trip to Greece! We really received the royal treatment and in the magnificent dining room we were served a most delicious breakfast. I was so very sorry to leave the place the next morning and I woud recommend, without any hesitation, this particular hotel and make sure that you can spend MORE than only one night there. Our fondest appreciation to Maria.

Lovely quaint village within walking distance of the ancient archaeological sites, which are stunning.
It’s all very hilly to take a taxi to the top gate of the site if you’re feeling lazy - then it’s just up to the castle and then it’s all downhill back through the site and down into town

An amazing ruined city - great for anyone interested in history. We started at the top, walking up to the fortress then down through the city . We did not move our car as some tourist books recommend. The restaurant is outside the site but tickets are valid all day so no problem returning to walk back up - recommend this as you see things from a different perspective going in the opposite direction. There are sufficient information boards. Be aware there is only one toilet on site. Good shoes are a must - these are ruins! Highly recommend.
The hotel is well situated in the centre of Mystras village and one kilometre from the entrance to the Byzantian castle ruins . The owner was helpful and showed us the room and parking , he also manages the restuarant with his wife and teenage children .Our room was behind the main building on the ground floor with a great view of the castle ,a balcony and parking outside . Shower worked well, and beds were comfortable . The owner offered us a lift up to the castle entrance and we walked down.
This was my second stay at the Byzantion and I really like the place. The obvious reason for a stay is a visit to Mystras, this time with my wife. The hotel has an old world feel, appropriate to the location and the blessing of a lovely shady swimming pool in the back garden - perfect for cooling off after a hot day slogging up through the wonderful ruins.
They also do a great breakfast to set you up for the day.
The hotel is beautifully situated right in the centre of Mystras. We first visited just after it opened several years ago and it was lovely this time to see how the trees and shrubs have grown up, making the hotel blend beautifully with the landscape. The bedrooms were very comfortable with great beds and a fabulous shower. The spa was very welcoming and the breakfast ample and tasty.
It was an amazing stay. The landlord was very nice and gracefool. He even brought as fresh pastry in the morning. The villa is amazing, with great views and huge rooms. Each room was air-conditioned, kitchen was fully stocked and terrace had great views over Mystras village and archeological site. Three large bathrooms were a great bonus. We loved everything!
Cozy family hotel, located in a small village in the mountains. Five minutes drive from Mystras. Nice rooms, charming courtyards. Impressive mountain views from the rooms and terraces. A great breakfast that is served to your room. And the boundless hospitality of the staff. I will definitely book again if I come back to this region.
the only big hotel in Mystras. the breakfast is nice, we met a romanian lady that is working there and we discussed a lot with her. she is lovely! the jam is nice and you have the opportunity to make yourself a fresh juice from oranges - not in all the hotels you can do this - most of them are buying from the supermarket.
The flat is located within walking distance of restaurants and bars in the village of Mystras and has a fabulous view of Mystras from the terrace. Tacis and Eka are charming and very helpful. The flat is well equipped with everything you could need. I highly recommend it.
Spacious room, particularly the bed. Very polite personnel with immediate response to our requests. The personnel is is the best asset of this hotel. The location is fantastic. The hotel is located in a place that is ideal for daily excursions with the car in the region.
We had a large room in a traditional building very close to the surprisingly lively centre of Mystras. The room had everything we needed, there was off road parking. The hostess was very friendly and the room was a bargain at the price we paid.
The hotel is located in the centre of a small town named Mystras, which is at the foot of the mountain where a Byzantine ruined city locates. The hotel is clean. The breakfast offered by the restaurant of the Mystras Inn is good.
Beautiful authentic house in a stunning location with views of the historic site of Mystras. The house was spacious, comfortable and clean and we had everything we needed. The owner was charming, friendly and very helpful.
Beautiful location and facilities, breakfast was very good ( although no buffet while other hotels returned to safe buffets now). Very convenient to get to Mystras site.
Welcome drink was a nice gesture!
The staff at Pyrgos of Mystra was the best thing about the hotel. Friendly, kind and helpful! Thank you so much!! The hotel is lovely and the room was amazing. Views from windows are wonderful.
This is a delightful hotel with a very comfortable bed. WE checked out early so Maria gave us an early breakfast. The location was great very handy to the town square.
Wonderful, authentic place with modern facilities and vintage fleur. The medieval Mystras is magical. We also greatly appreciated the very warm welcome from the host!
Everything was perfect! From the breakfast, to the service, to the location. Great amenities, gym, tennis and very near Sparta and the castle town of Mystras.
Warm happy welcome vibes! Strongly recommended, beautiful area around the corner of Mystras archeological site, good restaurants & green mountain hiking.
