Petinos traditional house, hotel in Thirasia

Set in Thirasia in the Cyclades region, Petinos traditional house offers accommodation with free WiFi. Outdoor dining is also possible at the holiday home.

We stayed at Petinos House for 3 nights in May 2024 and had a fabulous time. We couldn't fault the accommodation. It's an old fisherman's cottage full of character and was very well appointed, clean and comfortable. The real wow factor for us though was the location of the cottage on the beach front in Korfos, with stunning views from the terrace to the front during the day and at night, with the lights of Fira twinkling across the bay. Korfos is busy during the day with various tourist boats stopping off but is quiet during the evenings. Which brings up the matter of eating options. There are probably 10 or more restaurants in Korfos but they were all pretty much closed in the evenings after the tourist boats have left. Whether that changes later in the season I can't say. The restaurant next door (the Windmill) oversees Petinos' house and offered us the option of eating there after the restaurant had technically closed and we had a couple of lovely mesls there (swordfish - yum!) There are a few restaurant up in the village of Manolas (we didn't eat there, so no recommendations) and the many steps up to Manolas will become familiar to you if you stay for a few days! ;) We did two fabulous walks while we were there, which show you a lot of the island. 1/ Up the steps to Manolas (a quaint little village of fisherman's houses) then following the road down the hill west to the equally quaint village of Potamos, and north to the village of Riva Cove. There are a couple of restaurants here, and we ate at the Agistri restaurant, a lovely traditional Greek taverna where owner Nikos treated us to ouzo, raki, wine and fabulous Greek hospitality! We had a lunch of fresh sardines, okra, etc., then caught the late afternoon ferry back to Korfos. We can't recommend this restaurant highly enough! 2/ Up the steps to Manolas, the south to Panayia, a church/monastery on the southern tip of the island.

Set in a quiet location, just 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Fira Town, the Greek-style Galatia Villas offers a welcoming lounge, and spacious, air-conditioned rooms.

It was nice place and a very big room which was comfortable. The only thing was that we had a room right next to reception and we could here everything all day long. It was really annoying with sleep.

Thirasia is a good way to save money staying in Santorini. Great views, but many restaurants close in the evenings. Not so easy to get too - check ferry times. Problem getting t and from the Port in Santorini - bus only every 2-hours.

Thirassie rightly called Santorini 50 years earlier.

Thirassie rightly called Santorini 50 years earlier. It is a dry, rugged island with a simple, volcanic nature. The people are simple, hospitable and welcoming; you can really feel the spirit of a Greek village there.

We arrived very early in the morning to Oía and we could take a boat to Thirassia very easily and cheap (1 euro) Once we reached to the little Island, a man brought us to Zacharo Studio. It is a lovely place to relax, read , meditate, love and eat well! Please respect this place! Jimmy was really nice with us

I just had one of the most relaxing holidays and came home refreshed and happy ! ~ It is a pleasure to meet someone like Jimmy, who is hard working and conscientious about offering his guests a wonderful opportunity of a special holiday atmosphere. His wife Roula is friendly and enjoys meeting people. If she is available you can sit and have a nice visit with her. The sunrise and sunset are spectacular from the terrace. It’s a very peaceful setting, no loud music or guests to disturb the experience. Many places to walk and explore, ask Jimmy he will suggest different ideas. ~There is nothing not to like about staying at Zacharo Rooms.

Loved the peacefulness of been on an island where you are not fighting the crowds. You don’t come to this island to shop as they don’t have any other than mini marts and restaurants. It is a place to explore or simply rest. Great places to swim. If you want, there are regular ferries to Santorini. 10 minutes to Oia. To get around Thirasia you can walk the entire length of the island in a couple of hours or you can hire mountain bikes. No buses or taxis on island. Many places to explore. Panorama Restaurant is great.
