We stayed just one night here and felt like we had a chance in the afternoon of arrival and then a few hours in the morning to see everything major in town. We arrived on a Sunday night and it was SWARMING - my son actually said it reminded him of Disneyland with vendors selling all the same things like light up toys, etc. Monday morning was much more calm and enjoyable. Was able to see the beautiful sites and enjoy the town much more. The volcano was barely coming out as we were leaving so wish we had a better view of that.

pay in Q and not dollars or use your credit card which is not a guarantee. They were canceling my guest reservations and my VISA/MC or DISCOVER was not working except my DEBIT card which was odd but was later explained that they have to wait 8 days to get the money from the credit card and DEBIT card was immediate money. That was not nice.

Lovely historical town that captures the culture, cuisine and spirit of the country. Walkable, or by Uber or tuk tuk. Most streets are bumpy cobblestone, so don’t recommend bikes, although there are bike tours provided in the area. Lots of hotels, B&Bs, and restaurants, museums, historical sites and shops for tourists.

It's a UNESCO site, so you know with certainty it's very special. I found it spellbinding; it's a place that "has it all!" Never once felt unsafe, even walking through town alone in the wee hours of the morning. Easily and enjoyably very walkable, even from one side of the city to the other (but you need comfortable walking shoes given the cobblestone streets laid in the 1850s). Great restaurants and pubs on every block, too numerous to mention except, perhaps, for the Irish pub called "Snug."

Antigua is a beautiful city with so much to do and so much to see! I walked all over the city at all times of the day and night! I never saw any danger or felt any danger! Antigua is very safe, different than Guatemala city! I did not go and I had no interest in going to Guatemala City. Antigua has everything!

The hotel is small in size, only 7 or 8 rooms, with beautiful design and amazingly friendly staff. Every space is curated and feels secluded and personal. Our room was the one closest to reception (Blue Room) and was well appointed, comfortable and quiet. The rooftop is gorgeous and we enjoyed our delicious breakfasts and cocktails there. Although the pool was tempting, we did not use it. The hotel is within walking distance to everything (Hector's Deli, Cafe Boheme, churches, ruins, museum at Hotel Casa Santo Domingo, Cafe No Se).
Looked forward to coffee and Rosa's breakfast on the terrace each morning taking in the beautiful views. Irving is extremely knowledgeable of Guatemala and Latin America in general and with his high profiency in English, we were grateful for all his knowledge to assist us in our travels. The hostel arranged transportation from the airport to the hostel for us and the driver was very good. It was a fair price compared to other services. I would highly recommend using the hostel transport service.
Beautiful hotel, nicely decorated. Very comfortable in the room and outside by the pool. The staff were exceptional. Very helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. I was very poorly for the two days I was there and Sarah in reception helped me organise medication to be delivered from a local pharmacy. She messaged them personally for me on WhatsApp. Enrique was also a diamond an was always happy to help with a smile on his face. Five stars!
You cannot beat the location! It's right by the central plaza, and is walking distance from the sights, shopping, and amazing restaurants. The hotel itself is beautiful, especially the pool. The hotel doesn't serve breakfast, but they offered discounts for some restaurants that were in walking distance. We liked being able to try a different place for breakfast every day. Our room also had stunning views of the volcanoes.
The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and approachable. The rooms were well designed, with a great warm shower that you need after a long day of traveling - and the bed was clean and comfortable.
The breakfast is a must-have at Ojala! They had two great options that we got to share.
One other important perk is their garden and patio - all you plant lovers can spend a long time just examining their plants.
Hotel Alma Maya is in an older building, which makes it cheaper, but it is very clean, has kitchen facilities and colorful murals, and has a friendly, helpful staff. They let me leave excess baggage when I went to El Salvador for several days. I use Antigua as my base and always return to Alma Maya. Convenient location near the local market and a supermarket. Several blocks from the Central Plaza.
We loved everything. Great location, staff and decor. Most importantly however is knowing that all money goes to their NGO supporting local kids to get an education. A one night stay supports a child's education for one week. The story behind this hotel is admirable and I hope they can expand beyond the current three hotels, 2 in Guatemala and 1 in London
The hotel was luxurious and intimate at the same time. There was ample room for our two little ones and us. The kids loved the pool and the outdoor couches and chairs in front of our room. There is a phenomenal playground within walking distance and the entire gated community is lovely, especially if you like after dinner walks.
I made a mistake with my booking and the staff was so helpful and managed it perfectly. They also were very helpful in booking transportation to and for our further travels. Also the view and the beds were great! The food is very good and the beers are local and on draft. Thank you Earth Lodge!
My stay at El Convento in Antigua was an absolute delight. Every detail of the hotel was meticulously cared for, signaling a high level of attention to guest satisfaction. The breakfast, included in the stay, was exceptional, offering a quality that went above and beyond our expectations.
This hotel was wonderful place and very close to Central Park of antigua nice beds great breakfast also. If I have to go to Antigua Guatemala again definitely I will stay in hotel vista San Francisco
Everything!! Probably one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in in my life! Room, surroundings, staff, pool. The spa and the treatments are out of this world!! Amazing place
The staff was very nice, and the restaurant has great food, the best is the location, it's close to every important place in La Antigua, you can walk to every place.
This hotel exceeded our expectations! So beautiful. The pool and grounds are kept exceptionally well. Yummy restaurant and very helpful front desk staff!
