Perfect place as a mid-point in a long drive. Virtually ZERO to do, including only a gas station grocery only. But as a "motel 6" type option, it was better than average.

The two guys that run this place have apparently taken it on in the last couple of years and are very enthusiastic, friendly and helpful.
There is a pool table in the main “hall” area.
And the breakfast was delicious (there’s a waffle maker!)
Dinner can also be provided but you need to give 48hrs notice

Owners have done the "extra" mile here. It was the most welcooming experience in a hotel/room i ever had. They had thought of every need you may have. You can find anything you want in the house with instructions, from how to make your waffles (they offer you all the ingredients there with homemade jam) to musical instruments, to turn on the hot pool so that you find it ready when you go. Highly recommened. And the best location for northern lights, we just went out of the house and we saw the magical show of northern lights above us.

The house is beautiful located at the edge of the fjord, There is another house just next to it. There is enough privacy for both houses. The interior is made with love. I loved the spacious bathroom. The bed was very comfy.
When the sun shines it can get very hot inside, but we could open all kind of windows, so it was no problem, i liked the sustainability of using the sunheat.

The woman at the reception was very friendly.
There was 24/7 coffee and tea for free.
We only stayed a night, arriving in a blizzard. It was absolutely stunning, the hot tub and sauna in the snow were simply breath-taking. We didn't even get a chance to check out Hvammstangi, unfortunately, but next time I will definitely stay here again!

We loved everything: the cottage, the view, the nice short talk with the owner, the aurora on our second evening!
The main restaurant at the village near the cottage is pricy but very good: save for it if needed, it is worth it (and needed as there is no kitchen in the cottage 😉).
The water could be ice cold at first, be patient, it will soon be (very) warm. Talk to the owner before your stay, it will explain the reason better than me!
One last point: the owner talked about a path to go to the shore of the fjord, but we didn't found it. Make sure he explain it to you clearly.

We stayed here for one night.
We stayed here for one night. We where a little concerned considering the remote area of the country. The owner greeted us very kindly and made us feel like at home. Once you step in you can feel the love she has put in to this place. I was really happy on how clean the house is. The bed limens where so clean and ironed. ♥️ the backyard was adorable. She had waffles for us and a home made jelly made. ♥️

Just a short walk out of town but far enough to be quiet and private. Guesthouse was a wonderful surprise. Modern, clean and a very well equipped kitchen for guests. Host even threw a pot of coffee on in the morning. Full fjord view from our bedroom. Turned out to be one of our best overnights in Iceland.
Our room had a very nice view to the lake and to the horses. The patio was a very nice place to chill. Our host provided us a very nice modern kitchen with everything needed and there is a lot of space to sit and eat. The guesthouse had 7 rooms and 2 bathrooms which was convenient. Towels were provided. Breakfast such as bread, juice and marmelade were also included which was very nice. Wifi works perfectly.
Breakfast was poor at best. But if you were planning to go there to see the northern lights, the rooms would have been very good for that. The hotel is way out of the way, but easy to drive to. There is nothing around, so your food options are limited to zero
I will give it high marks for clean, it was very clean. They could have given a bath mat type towel to stand on.
A great location on a farm, just next to a peninsula with its fair share of attractions (go check out the nearby Seal Center in Hvammstangi for a better understanding of the region's cutest mammal before driving around Vatnsnes to spot some seals lounging on rocks). Andrea was a very welcoming host, I really enjoyed talking with her and the breakfast was a nice bonus.
This was second time on this hotel, the location is pretty good between Akureyri and Reykjavik for an overnight, worth a visit to the seal beach to check the seals, really cool during the "summer" and hvitserkur.
Breakfast is simple but good enough to get back to the road. A very good restaurant at walk distance, but make a reservation.
Every thing was fine ,quirky hotel , host was great would have marked this up a lot more but our room was smelly from foul plumbing in the bathroom , Im not sure if this an issue with the other rooms but our room 11 whilst great clean and comfortable just marred by that.Breakfast was good and restaurant meal also
Absolutely in love with Hvammstangi Hill Homes! Perfect little home in a cute little town. You have all you need! fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with free toiletries and floor heating system keeps our feet warm during shower! Will definitely come back and spend more days here if we happen to be in Iceland again!
Our stay at Eyri Seaside Houses was lovely. The accommodations were modern, clean and well designed. We especially loved the owner's photographs and portraits of the surrounding area. They were very kind and introduced us to their horses and the history of Icelandic horses. It was such a nice stay.
The cottages are exactly as new, comfortable, and beautiful as the photos. Very well designed. Almost everything you’d need is provided. And the views out every window are gorgeous. Fields, rolling hills, the fjord in the distance, and Icelandic horses prancing around in the field next door.
Private home, very cozy. Host was exceptional. Let us do laundry overnight and made us an incredible homemade breakfast with baked bread. Nice shower. Rooms
were individual bedrooms in house. Had a nice outdoor patio area to hang out with hot tub and sauna. Got a taste of Iceland at this home.
Lovely accommodation, a warm welcome and great attention to detail which made our stay special.
A good mix of the little luxuries of a hotel and the amenities of a staying in a friend's home. A calming and relaxing space. We would thoroughly recommend!
No frills updated guesthouse in Hvammstangi. Check in was straightforward - just pick up the key with your name from the kitchen table. The room was cosy but sufficient for one person. The place looked clean and well kept.
Very cozy, home like set up
Very comfortable sleep, the best night of sleep I had in Iceland
Great location close to Hvitzerkur
And most of all very hospitable and accommodating host Oskar
The cozy feeling you get in this place is truly awesome. It might look like a small cottage, but it has all you need inside for a good stay. Definitely better than most guesthouses etc.
These properties are brand new, exceptionally well equipped and comfortable. The owners made us feel very welcome and we loved our stay. The wool shop in town is well worth a visit.
Nice Guesthouse with small Bedrooms that have everything you need including a good breakfast. There are two very lovely dogs that love to say hi :) Would book again
