The hotel was within walking distance of the railway station and busstop, plus only a few hundred metres from the entrance of the Pompei ruins. The bus took us to the entrance of the Vesuvius, ideal for our destination, the walk to the top. (no toilets there, so go at the station/bus stop)
Located next to the Pompei Santuario Station, Hotel Palma is just a short stroll away from Pompeii’s ancient ruins. Enjoy views of Mount Vesuvius from its panoramic terrace.

Location - the location is excellent, adjacent to the train station, which is generally quite quiet, but overlooking a major junction which gets busy during daylight hours. We were visiting the historic ruins and its about a 10 minute walk through town to the entry.
Room - our room (212) was lovely can comfortable. The shower is good but the cubicle is very small, though quite typical for Italian properties. The bed was comfortable and the room had all the functions we needed. My only issue was that our room had rally slow wifi, outside the room it was excellent, but just that room seemed to be a dead spot, so if you are looking for a room with fast wifi you should ask for a different one.
Breakfast - the breakfast was excellent, a nice if basic range of options but more than adequate for what we needed.

Our stay at Hotel Maiuri was very pleasant. The room was lovely and clean. We booked a taxi to the ruins as we had a tour booked. The hotel manager drove us and showed us all the hi lights of Pompeii which was very kind. The ruins were amazing by the way. There was a restaurant opposite which served great food for dinner.
Hotel Calypso is sure to leave you with happy memories. Set 10 minutes' stroll from the station and the ruins, this small hotel is renowned for its friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

Fly to Naples International Airport, 25km from Pompei. From there, take the Circumvesuviana train (40 minutes). Alternatively, drive via A3 motorway (30 minutes). For domestic travellers, direct trains from Rome take approximately 2 hours.
The most convenient airport for Pompei, Italy is Naples International Airport. It's ideal due to its proximity, approximately 30 kilometres away, and its extensive domestic and international flight connections.
Pompei, Italy, is well-served by public transport. The Circumvesuviana train connects Pompei to Naples and Sorrento, while local buses provide access to the city's key sites. Taxis are also available. Alternatively, Pompei is compact and pedestrian-friendly, making walking a viable option. Cycling is less common due to the city's cobblestone streets.
The best area to stay in Pompei, Italy, is the city centre, near the archaeological site. It offers easy access to historical attractions, restaurants, and shops. It's also well-connected to public transport, making travel convenient.

Pompei was the biggest disappointment.
Pompei was the biggest disappointment. For years we longed to visit but sadly the expectations obviously were too high. It rained torrentially and there is very little covered areas to escape to. Hardly any mosaics etc. In the end we left and will not return. On hind site perhaps we would of seen more at the Naples museum.
I would recommend visiting Osita Antica just outside of Rome if you want a Roman Ruins experience along with plenty of stunning mosaics.

Very good place to stay and get trips around - old Pompei town, Pompei main street, Vesuvius mountain, and other nearby places like - Naples, Sorrento and others which can be reached easily by the train.
The town is very well maintained and it is very clean, bearing in mind the amount of tourists it gets.

Obviously the ruins (Scavi) are the main draw, but the town is very pretty. The Catholic Basilica does not have the size of the major basilicas in Rome, but it is just as beautiful. You do not have to stay here in order to see the ruins, but it does make it a less hectic experience. The ruins are free on the first Sunday of every month and on certain holidays. We went for free on Liberation Day (25 Apr).

Definitely a great place to stay to see the nearby...
Definitely a great place to stay to see the nearby attractions but, despite having three train stations, the transport links are not great. We were based here for a week and found the public transport frustrating. Last minute platform changes for trains only announced in Italian and giving insufficient time to change to the right platform. Buses leaving up to ten minutes early or not stopping. There is a Flixbus to Sorrento but it only gives three and a bit hours on a day trip from Pompei. To visit Capri we had to have a night in Sorrento which was an unexpected extra expense. On a final note if you eat gluten free the choice is fantastic. It is understood and catered for!

Pompeii is a lovely and cozy and absolutely beautiful town!
Pompeii is a lovely and cozy and absolutely beautiful town!
As a solo female traveler I always felt very safe, and I was able to fully enjoy and explore both the city, and the sights like the ruins and mount vesuvius.
Note that there aren’t any Ubers or any easy way to get a taxi if you’re staying a little outside the main city core (I stayed at a 30 minute walk away from the Main Street), but it’s very walkable and there’s pavement all around, and some busses if you can figure them out but I generally just walked everywhere :)
There’s also areas for parking if you’re bringing/renting a car or even for campers and RV’s right next to the city centre (abt 3-5min walk from the Main Street).
The Pompeii ruins are a must visit and I recommend going with a guide that’s also an archeologist, I found several tours including the one I took that also went to Herculaneum via GetYourGuide. There I also found the “tour” (just a shuttle bus really) that went to the highest entrance of Mount Vesuvius (leaving a 20min/1km hike to the top of the crater) which was also very cool and I definitely recommend going there too while you’re in Pompeii!

One of the outstanding sites of it's type in the world and one you are aware of since a child but only when you come here can you appreciate the scale and amazing survival off the ruins for all of us to see and cultural asset
It is also very good value for money
Pompei Suites did not disappoint, the rooms are beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. Great facilities and a lovely balcony with a view too, very quiet and relaxing.
The best bit though was the epic breakfasts by our host Sonia. Very delicious and needed before a long day walking round amazing Pompeii.
Alfonso was also incredible and very accommodating picking us up from the station and also taking us to the ruins. Super lovely and great communication with the hosts.
5 stars, highly recommend this B&B gem if visiting Pompeii.
This is about a mile from Pompeii ruins with private parking. Very clean and comfortable place, fully furnished. There are mats either side of the bed, in the kitchen and bathroom. This is most welcomed as in the winter as the floors can be very cold. In fact this is the first place, in Italy, to have this, and we have stayed in lots of different places on our travels.
Mirko and his brother are very friendly and helpful. Great place and would highly recommend.
Everything was excellent, the room was beautifully decorated, spacious and accommodating. Bed was so comfy. Bathroom was gorgeous! The staff- over the top, wanted to do everything and more to make you have the best time. We had a few problems with some things that the hotel had nothing to do with YET they took the time to help us! Couldn’t have asked for a better hotel to stay and to top it off the BEST staff. Thank you all!!!
Very cute little B&B with thoughtfully decorated and themed rooms! Andrea was amazingly helpful with making sure I was able to check in when I got there, and I had very convenient private parking. Was served the best coffee and an amazing breakfast spread in the morning. The hotel is right across the street from the Pompeii ruins, and I was able to leave my bags in a secure garage whilst I explored the next day after checkout.
Close to entrance to Pompei ruins- 10 mins walk maximum. Breakfast typical of Italy, great coffee, you can ask the staff and they make you cappuccino or Americano etc. 2 mins from restaurants, pizza restaurants etc. Great base to explore. We were here 2 nights, we saw the ruins and did Vesuvius ( the public bus takes you up 1000 metres high, book entrance tickets online beforehand as no internet service up here.
The room was very clean and with all the facilities anybody may need.
I have to mention the insects nets (very effective against mosquitos) at the window and balcony because it is the only place in Italy were I found this.
The breakfast was excellent.
Not so close from the city center and restaurants, but there is a restaurant right in the courtyard that helped a lot.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The accommodations were great. The beds were the most comfortable out of our whole trip to Italy. The units all had independent AC controls which was great, several other places we stayed did not have AC turned on during that time of the year. The wifi was super fast, and rooms were very spacious. Water was nice and hot. The lady that checked us in was also so kind and showed us where to go for coffee and food.
the apartment and host were great. the location was only two blocks from the Pompei ruins and great restaurants. the hosts responded immediately to messages and were at the apartment upon our arrival to let us in. also the most comfortable bed we had in Italy, better than 4 star hotels. the parking was secured. the hosts even responded to our questions of places to go shopping for specific items
The hosts of this property are AMAZING! Please, if you are staying in Pompeii, I can't recommend this property enough. Amazing recommendation for dinner (one of our favorite meals in Italy) and for included breakfast at a shop on the corner. They were easy to contact when we had questions and during communication when we were set to arrive/depart. Absolutely beautiful location!
The location is great for reaching the Pompeii site, as well as the Pompeii train station (which would bring you easily to naples, villa poppea, as well as towards castellammare connecting to amalfi).
The owner is very reactive on whatsapp, and ready to provide help.
The hotel also provides a shared kitchen which can be pretty useful.
Air conditioner is very effective.
One of our favorite places we’ve stayed in Italy! The terrace is amazing! So big and a nice view of Vesuvius. The bed is very comfortable and I loved all the fairy lights around the room and terrace. Tea, water, and a kettle is provided. Gio was an amazing host with great recommendations. Can highly recommend. We just wish we could have stayed longer!
The apartment was very clean modern, and comfortable. With two separate bedrooms it is perfect for families. The host was just perfect, helped us with everything from parking to restaurants. You can visit the ruins of Pompeii by feet, there are a lot of great restaurants near the apartment. Best apartment we stayed during our three-week stay in Italy!
I really enjoyed my stay. The hosts were kind, welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was really nice and the room was comfortable and clean. This hotel is also very close to the Pompei ruins and about 15 mins away from the station (by foot), which was really convenient for me. A lovely, cosy hotel where I would love to stay again!
It was an excellent experience to meet the nice owner. He was very friendly and so helpful. The location was good, there was a private parking space to keep your car secured in south of Italy, there was included breakfast and a very supportive and helpful owner. I recommemd this place if you plan to stay in Pompeii.
It was fantastic, the breakfast was delicious, the best we had in Italy. The view from the balcony was lovely and the staff were super helpful. brilliant location for visiting Pompeii. could not rate this place more highly.
It is beautiful here. Everyone was super nice and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Loved the poolside bar to get a snack and a drink. I cant say enough about this place. Best place we have stayed so far in Italy!
Comfortable, clean, well appointed. Excellent breakfast in lovely room. Convenient, close parking. Across the street from the rear entrance to Pompeii ruins....the best way to enter the site. A gem.
Location. Hotel located in the main square. Entrance to the pompeii ruins is next to the hotel. AC works well. Front counter has a person 24 hours. I will come back to this hotel if I visit again.
