Staff during the day was helpful, even though they didn't speak much English. However, the person that checked me in at night, asked for my passport and wanted to keep it overnight, so I told him he couldn't do that, and gave it back to me. He didn't even showed me the room or helped with the luggage.
Good wifi and good location only.

We booked the Junior Suite with balcony which was a split-level room with the bedroom on the mezzanine floor. The hotel is newly renovated and the room was modern and clean with nice furnishings.
There was a mini bar with juice, water and soft drinks provided free of charge and tea/coffee making facilities.
The breakfast is served in the restaurant and was one of the best we had during out time in Puglia.
Nice sunrise view from the balcony.

Splendid property, everything was excellent and excedeed our expectations. Special mention to the restaurant and the staff there, they are amazing! Also, while accomodation is on the very expensive side, the prices at the restaurant and bar were very reasonable and excellent for the quality and service

An interesting city that we were using for a stop off point from Lecce. The city is by the water with an old castle and a fishing industry. There is also a steel mill and a lot of cargo ships in the bay. There is an old town but it is mostly abandon from the 1970’s so doesn’t compare at all to old towns in other Italian cities. Work underway to rejuvenate the old town and waterfront but seems to be very slow and will take 10-20 years. We caught the train to Taranto from Brindisi but found it difficult to get one to Amalfi so ended up catching a bus (which worked well). In summary, if your in the area spend a couple of days but don’t plan a special trip to Taranto.

Having visited the lagoon and port area there is the ancient city to see, finally the must is the archeological museum. The marked is down-town, the fishermen do their job and you will find all you need near-by. With the 5-day abonnement of the railway there is an alternative to the car-rental.

Restaurants seem to be closed on Mondays.
Restaurants seem to be closed on Mondays. The old town is not really what you would expect. Almost no bars, restaurants or coffee shops.
Better to stroll along the newer parts of the city. Plenty of shops and places for an espresso or dinner. If you have a car: drive south along the coast (30-60 minutes) and you will find plenty of beaches with white sand and excellent clear water to swim and play in....

For me Taranto is the best city in Puglia, it has absolutely everything, city on 2 seas (Citta dei due mare) city life and beach life combined. It has the most beautiful castle, and Citta Vecchia where the cathedral San Cataldo has to be seen to be believed. Lots of beautiful churches, a museum full of wonderful gold and antiques. Always a buzz in the city with lots to do, and you are so close to stunning beaches too, a short drive away. You also have to taste a Spritz, and a panzerotto (watch though you don't burn your mouth)

It was an interesting city for one time visit.
It was an interesting city for one time visit. The waitresses were rude in the Irish pub, another Italian restaurant was told that all table are reserved in spite of the place was absolutely empty. There weren't bars except for one on the seaside boulevard but that was good. To find parkplace is a big challenge but we were lucky and we always found which generally took 5-10 minuits.
I went to Taranto at Christmas to visit friends and I stayed in this lovely, very clean and comfortable B&B.
The owner was very helpful, kind and very professional, she gave me advice on what I could visit in Taranto and the best restaurants. The b&b is located in the city centre I could easily reach everything on foot... what can I say I highly recommend it... I hope to return as soon as possible to visit. Taranto is a very historic city and the museum is amazing . Excellent experience.. thank you!
Really enjoyed the private setting of the residence. It is located away from the center city of Taranto but not too far away from the beaches nearby as well. The residence itself is very clean well maintained and peaceful most of all. Parking is a plus since other facilities nearby are either paid parking or not secured. It’s great for pets too. They charge additional cleaning fees but it is convenient for pets. Breakfast selection is very good and plenty.
Taranto wasn't in the list of our holidays, we decided in the last minute to see this place that's not mainstream among tourists. IT DIDN'T DISSAPOINT, Tarantois an amazing city with some great beaches nearby especially San Pietro island is a MUST GO.
This accommodation was beyond perfest, fully furnished, we were lucky to use all brand new equipments, the amazing terrace just completes this stay as a place that you want to go back, we felt at home.
Modern and clean facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff. After a not so good first impressions of the area we actually found Taranto Vecchia very charming and it has a lot of character. Great to see local businesses trying to restore the old town to its glory days. The evening restaurant food was excellent and the breakfast was perfect with a good choice of pastries. Parking facilities were good.
Boutique hotel in the old city within walking distance to the cathedral and castle.
Staff were friendly and welcoming and the welcome drink and pastries were most appreciated.
Room spotless and bed comfortable.
Fabulous seafood restaurant a few minutes walk from the hotel which we went to twice.
we highly recommend this property when visiting Taranto.
The Albergo del Sole is a new and small hotel in a old town area of Taranto. Short distance from old town points of interest. Clean rooms, little bit smaller room than what is detailed on Booking.com, excellent breakfast/ bar (open after 7PM). Very friendly and helpful staff. I’ll definitely choose this hotel in my next trips.
Room full of character and host interest in the history of Taranto apparent with interesting curios throughout the property.
Large breakfast each morning and on last morning host accommodated a 6am breakfast so we could catch an early train.
Massive shared kitchen/ diner fully fitted to allow cooking
Very modern building and apartment. Clean and restored among other falling buildings in Taranto. The apartment was spacious, bathroom beautifully finished and comfortable. TV with many channels and Italian breakfast in the cafe nearby were the cherry on top. Amazing view from the terrace!!!!
This is a basic B&B which is very convenient to Taranto train station. - My room was large, clean, but minimally furnished. The room had a small en-suite bathroom. - Management are not on staff, but provided any help I needed to gain access via phone.
One of the nicest rooms we have been in during our 3 week stay in the south of Italy. The room was 5 star as is the location. Taranto is not what you call a resort location but this sea view location close to the old city was exceptional for us.
A beautiful "Valigie" room with a wonderful design, coffee machine, AC, fridge and TV at your disposal.
Very nice host Ada, who also told me some interesting details about visiting Taranto.
You can also leave luggage if you need to.
The apartment is in a central area of Taranto close to many great restaurants, shops and areas of interest. The apartment itself felt very comfortable, clean and roomy. I quickly settled in and felt at home here.
Friendliness of the staff, comfortable and very spacious room, location of the hotel is perfect for nightlife. Taranto is a real gem of a place to visit and this is the place to stay!!
it was a very quiet b&b, some small details could be improved but it's been a lovely experience in one of the most beautiful spots of the majestic Taranto.
