The design and layout of this old Japanese Style of residence is very unique and comfortable. Wooden structure, wooden floor and walkway, room is Tatami floor. Lots of Japanese decoration and paintings. The living room with long wooden dining table is cosy and comfortable. The shower and toilets are very clean, the entire residence is very clean and well maintained.
The owner, Mr & Mrs Lin is very friendly and helpful. Mr Lin gave us some good tips about the sightseeing. He recommended 2 local restaurants, the foods are superb and prices are reasonable. My reservation was 2 nights stay, and he is very kind to extend the biggest room for 6 persons instead of our original booking of triple beds. We have plenty of space for our luggages. The best part was we occupied the entire residence for 2 nights and we had our most comfortable sleep during our stay.
The garden is one of the best places, lots of flowers and trees, is very relaxing to chill out at anytime. The neighborhood is cosy and quiet.
This is definitely the best place to stay and experience the traditional way of Japanese living.
Lastly, we are very lucky to have the best and clear views of Mount Fuji at Kawaguchiko.

The check-in time was supposed to be until 10 pm. The staff was so kind to stay til later for us as we are arriving late. There are 3 private onsen for reservation. First come first served. Tried one of the three onsens, good quality! Everything is clean and cosy. Got chance to make our own tatami bed!

Friendly, kind, very helpful (In particular I asked about non hotel related questions, what japanese stone inscriptions meant on top of a mountain, this lady also helped in using laundry machines). English was no problem. Would love to stay here again.

Isawa Onsen is an onsen resort town adjacent to the city of Kofu in Yamanashi. It is home to a variety of onsen hotels and stand-alone spas, all with attached restaurants. In addition to the onsen based restaurants, Isawa has a range of restaurants and dining venues for all budgets. It is also home to a number of houto restaurants. Houto is a specialty of Yamanashi Prefecture and is a thick miso broth with meat vegetables and thick houto noodles. Additionally, there are plenty of convenience stores and super markets as well as a range of specialty shops on the main street of the town. Isawa Onsen Station on the JR Chuo Line allows you to travel to Kofu and Shinjuku. The town is suited for foot or bicycle. As this is Yamanashi, car travel is also possible with many shops and venues having parking.
