A very social hostel with a great atmosphere and a great staff. The manager is very kind and helpful, he gives us many tips on things to do on the area and takes us to surfing lessons in the morning if we want.
In the evening we all gather around a tasty family dinner cooked by the staff. There's even a skate park in the hostel ! Good location at 15min by walk from town-center and close to several beach in a quiet stress ! Bathrooms and dorms are clean with fans above each bed or AC. I highly recommend this place !

We booked 2 nights but extended with another night because my girlfriend was sick, and we liked it so much.
Location: for us this was a great location. If you like it more calm, outside of the busy main street area - this is a great place for you.
The property looks very cosy and apart from the crows it's pretty quiet. There's a beach right in front of the property which can be a bit rough, but we went in anyway. Also the sound of the waves is super relaxing.
You can easily walk to the main street/main beach in 30m. There's only a roti shop close by (recommend this as well), but Rizvi makes the best dishes and juices so you don't necessarily need
Staff: probably the highlight for this stay was the staff. My girlfriend became sick right before we came to Arugam Bay and she wasn't able to do much there except for resting. The chef took care of her by suggesting some teas, lime drinks, and healthy foods. Also the owner and the maintenance person aided us in our stay.
Sand Dune resort has a great team of awesome people.
Chef Rizvi made us the best meals ever (honestly one of the best foods I ate in Sri Lanka), I tried almost all of his dishes.
Haroon, the owner, was also kind and was happy we wanted to stay another night.
The maintenance guy helped us out when we had trouble in our room.
And they also have a tuktuk driver, our habibi, who took us to the bus station and with whom we also had a great time.
Together with these four guys we had fun at the resort, playing games and joking around in the evening.
Comfort: the rooms were pretty looking and quite comfortable.
