So for international travellers, best to go to, Lekki, V.I, Ikoyi, Stay in apartments resorts, or international hotel. i.e Fay Pads. Then look for a guide/driver which the resort can provide for you. Plan all your trips in advance and hold hard cash, not too much, don't rely on POS, due to network shortages. Once you're prepared there is way too much to do and see only in Lagos, wake up early, hit the roads and eat in restaurants, don't be tempted to eat on the roadside or drink pure water, as your stomach might be sensitive to how it's prepared. Don't wonder far away on your own, always let others know where you're going, use fly over bridges when crossing even if there are others not using it. Don't walk or travel at night if at all possible. When going to bed, do a final check of all doors and windows. Lagos is very sweet!

A city bursting at the seams.
A city bursting at the seams. Still struggling from years of neglect and underinvestment. Poor infrastructure, poorly maintained and no evidence that it is equipping itself to deal with the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century. That said, people are really friendly and cope remarkably well with the numerous daily challenges the are forced to contend with.

I did not like that the Immigrations Officers try to cut my holiday short by one day; of my visa allowed and Air Ticket time. Then expect me to pay more to get a Visa extension.
My favorite place was Shasha Lagos State. But Lagos needs great Improvement to be more attractive and safe also for tourists. They need to clean up the streets, paint the buildings and build better roads and guttering. To stop rain floods water and giant puddles settling in the roads.
All this can provide jobs for the locals. And make the roads safer for the Locals; and improve travel access for local businesses, when a major city and town have good roads. Making it much easier to travel around LAGOS. And making the roads free from accidents and also safer for the locals and Tourists visiting in Nigeria Lagos.
I stayed in an apartment and we did our own cooking. My husband sometimes bought cooked foods in the supermarket. We drank bottled or boiled water. Kekes can be fun to travel and nip around Lagos in, the and yellow mini busses. I also use Ubers, but I avoid traveling on motor Bikes.
I did not get to visit any of the national tourist sites mentioned here via point 6 below, on this trip. As it I came to get married and spend more of a quality time with my new husband.

The city of Lagos is located in a beautiful place, but it is very dirty and some areas, especially the old part of the city, are very dangerous for tourists. What shocked me the most was the situation when, during a police check, the policeman demanded money from me and the fact that only travelers were allowed to enter the airport and families were not allowed. Omnipresent controls that have nothing to do with ensuring security but only with difficulties and providing space for possible corruption of officials. Being forced to pay bribes at every step is unacceptable to me as an EU citizen. I liked the attitude of the people. They are smiling and positive despite the poverty that befalls them. They are constantly dancing and singing.
Here are the things that I like about the hotel:
- Great and friendly staff
- Very clean, especially since it is a brand-new hotel
- They don’t request or accept tips
- Great service when requested
- Inviting fragrances similar to Westin in the US
- May be good for someone looking for quiet hotel with no “happening” vibes
Nothing the hotel was not located at the address given. Even local security for that address and local police said it didn't exist
It's a scam and we had to scramble and pay even more to find a place. Thank god for EKO GARDENS for accommodating us.
I like the fact my partner was able to make our own food in the apartment, most hotels we have stayed in the past don’t give us that opportunity and that’s why we chose to stay here. The light is also stable through out our stay. Kudos to the mgt
Everything! Lilygate is the one hotel I stay in Lagos that felt international. Felt like I traveled out of Nigeria.
From the porter, to the reception, my room, dinner, breakfast, it was all very cool. I shall go back again and again
Booked for 2 but only 1 very small sandwich for breakfast provided for 1 person. Apparrantly some hotels only provide 1 breakfast per 2 people
Dinner was very good
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Great location
I want to thank the management for the hospitality shown to my parents over their stay. I'm super grateful. Mariners Suites has become my hotel when ever I'm in Lagos.
Keep it up team!!!!!
I had the opportunity to stay at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, and I wanted to share that I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, and I found the location to be very convenient."
I love everything. The kings room with sea view, is top notch 🥰🥰❤️. Anytime I want to lodge in lagos, definitely the yatch hotel. Thank you for the complimentary champagne 🥂
Booked 2 nights but could only stay a night. Hotel refused to refund. Sent me to Booking.com. Booking.com also sent me back to the hotel. Just a back and forth.
