We were unaware that the whole area / hotel shuts down over the winter. We actually left a day early or we wouldn't have been able to catch our ferry! More info on website about this may have been helpful.

Amazing place!
If you are looking for a 5-star hotel with all facilities, please do not book here. However, if you simply want a good place to sleep, a bar with excellent vibes and welcoming staff, this is the place to be!
Sandra is an excellent host who is very welcoming and helpful to all guests. Although it was mentioned that there was no breakfast provided, she suprised us with complimentary croissants and coffee. Combine that with a wonderful view of the fjord and good weather and you have an experience that many 5* hotels can only dream of.
Nice bar with local ciders, pool table and musical atmosphere.

The location was great. Local streets offered plenty of restaurants, groceries, and public transport. We walked everywhere and loved being close to the Vondelpark and museums. The bathroom was large.

I don’t normally leave reviews, but we absolutely loved our stay so we had to! The place is in perfect location, has one of the most amazing views I’ve seen and is very spacious. The owner was very quick to reply, and very accommodating. The kitchen and bathroom have been updated so the current photos don’t do it justice! We were very warm and comfortable and it was nice to catch up on some washing. Highly recommend staying here!

Take the fast ferry (4 hours) from Bergen and slow down and enjoy the glorious surroundings. Be prepared to relax and enjoy the quiet. We ate our meals and enjoyed cocktails at the Kviknes Hotel. We slept at the Balestrand Hotel and enjoyed the quiet.

Arriving by ferry drops you at the heart of the town.
Arriving by ferry drops you at the heart of the town. Walking south along Kong Beles Veg for about 2 kilometers affords beautiful views of St. Olaf's church, the picturesque valley, the beach, the hills, and several "Swiss-style" charming old houses. A must-see is Balestrand's little beach and the deep, clear pools beside it where I sat for ages soaking up the sound of the water's tranquil lapping on the rocks and watching fish zip around way below the surface of the crystal-clear water. I even caught people swimming and sunning themselves at midday in late September! There were not many dining options post-tourist-season, but I had the soup at the chocolatery called Holmen within the main triangle of town, and though I found it overpriced (compared to prices in Bergen), it was delicious.

Our family absolutely loved staying at Frydenlund near Balestrand. Everything in the property's information was accurate. Great hosts who helped us when we had some questions, Views are wonderful and several areas in which to relax and enjoy them. Check-in was easy as there was a door code. While we would love to return to this part of Norway we would only do so if we could also stay at Frydenlund.

Beautiful location and friendly small town.
Beautiful location and friendly small town. Unfortunately it rained quite heavy in September 2019 when we were there so that we couldn't do much biking and hiking as we had anticipated, but there was still enough to do to keep us occupied the day and a half that we spent there. Dinner with a piano concert in the Kviknes Hotel was particularly memorable.

Cute town with a lot packed into a small place.
Cute town with a lot packed into a small place. Walking around town is easy. There are two grocery stores and plenty of restaurants. We went to an English Mass at St Olaf's Church too. If we had arrived earlier in the day we might have had time to fish from the shores of the fjord.
Very spacious living areas with fabulous long balcony overlooking the harbour. Plenty of seating available
Very well-equipped kitchen including kitchen linen (lacking in other Norway apartments)
Very good communication and easy access via lockbox. We really appreciated being able to access the apartment 1-2 hours early when we arrived in Balestrand
Dishwasher (with tablets)
A well-behaved shower that didn't flood the bathroom!!
Great place about a 5-10 minute walk from the ferry. Views from the room over the fjord are excellent. Rooms are very basic, but clean and comfortable. Coffee & pastries included for breakfast or a discount coupon for the restaurant at a nearby hotel. Access to a fabulous sauna below the hotel that has access to the water and beautiful views (you have to book and pay for this, but it was the highlight of our visit!).
Wow, what a view! Our room had an incredible view of the fjord (and of a glacier!). Loved having access to a small kitchenette. And the adjustable beds were a real treat! Great shower. Hikes from the hotel.
But the highlight of the hotel really is the food. Our dinner there one evening was outstanding! Exceptional fish entree and cold cheese/meat platter. Breakfast was lovely, as well.
I paid extra for a fjord view room, and we got a room with a balcony in the "modern" building on the 8th floor. The view was spectacular and well worth the extra cost. The view made the entire stay! The dinner buffet was bountiful and delicious. The breakfast buffet was good, but not as amazing as the dinner. We also ate in the hotel bar one night and that food was well prepared also.
Superb views of the Fjorde and Mountains . This beautiful village is steeped in history and cultural experiences.
The hallways and lobbies are decorated with beautiful local photos taken throughout the year which clearly depicts the change of seasons and the beauty of nature .
Certainly well worth staying at the Kringsjå Hotel .
Very spacious, beautiful view, different seating areas (deck, sunroom, living room), very helpful hosts, short drive in to town, better appliances than we have at home! We loved staying at Frydenlund and Balestrand. If we return to this part of Norway again, we would have to stay at Frydenlund.
Such a lovely hotel with breathtaking views. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. We had breakfast and dinners there during our stay and were so pleased. the food is exceptional and the presentation is top notch, We would definitely recommend staying here!
Extremely friedly hostess. Truly fantastic view. Comfortable cabin. Great for families because of the farm animals.
Balestrand area offers lots of things to see and do such as great hiking, boat trips, museum, aquarium and the majestic Sognefjord.
We had an amazing stay at the Dragsvik Fjordhotel. The host and other personnel were most helpful and we felt very welcome. The views from the hotel are simply stunning and the atmosphere is peaceful and serene. Can only recommend!
it is very close to the ferry pier and a few restaurants in town (2 min walk). it’s very spacious and has a nice stocked kitchen and a washing machine. Hot shower, comfy beds, great view - at half the price of hotels - loved it!
Room was very clean. The common areas are filled with interesting photos, paintings and collectibles. Very quaint. Beautiful breakfast room with great view and food. Plenty of fun sitting areas with views over the fjord.
Great huge apartment on the waterfront. Our group of 5 adults had plenty of room. We had a large deck overlooking the water. Convenient location to restaurants and the grocery store. I would highly recommend this apartment.
We didn't stay due to the substandard nature of the accommodations. We left after ten minutes. This is the first time we have ever felt the need to leave a place we'd booked.
