We loved the shower pressure, excellent way to finish the day after travelling. The patrons were very friendly and gave us recommendations for various places of interest along with a map, which made it more enjoyable.

We had a lovely welcome from the host. The accommodation was inexpensive. Its in a lovely building but in my opinion in need of some serious renovation.

A very strong, freezing wind was blowing, unfortunately, during my stay, which hampered my exploration of the Greymouth area. The library was well set up for Wifi and warmth. I was unable to find a cafe/restaurant with good food. Coffee was good. The iSite staff were friendly, and were able to answer all of my questions. I arrived on the TranzAlpine train, this journey was well worth while.

Global Village Travelers hostel was the most attractive of the six I stayed in during my visit to the West Coast. It was clean, well decorated, and welcoming. Each bed of my female only dorm room had its own electrical outlet and light. The kitchen was clean and well stocked with cookware. Lots of books and pamphlets in the common rooms about the surrounding area. I recommend it highly for solo female travelers!

Very good stopping pony to visit pancake rocks and the blow holes. We walked to the coal creek falls which was lovely. We drove to Franz Josef, Fox Glacier and Hokitika. Greymouth was okay but there is absolutely nothing to do when it’s raining. Its only a small town.. the big pils is it has no traffic lights!

We enjoyed eating at the Speights Ale House and having coffee at the Robert Harris Coffee lounge. Our stay at the Sundowner Motel was clean and spacious. Our hosts were helpful and this made our stay enjoyable. The information boards around the town were interesting to read as we walked around but once we had accomplished this there was not a lot else to do. We would have liked to hire a car and explore further a field but no one would allow us to hire a car for a day.

Greymouth itself is not very attractive but the coastal drive north to Punakaiki offers fantastic scenery, and Hokitika Gorge to the south will not disappoint. There’s a small restaurant in Greymouth called Sevenpenny which was very good, far better than the overpriced restaurant in our hotel.
The Duke Hostel was a brilliant two-night stay for us! Firstly, the owner is super friendly and a really nice and helpful guy.
Next up, the rooms, kitchen, bathrooms were all immaculate and exceptionally clean. The bed was extra comfy! The communal kitchen had everything we needed and was very well kept.
This is one of the best hostels we've stayed in during our 5 week trip through New Zealand and we'd definitely recommend staying here!
Thanks!
Amazing accommodation. We have travelled around the South Island for the last two weeks in seven different apartments and this property is by far the best.
The attention to detail, from the large fluffy towels, beautiful bedding, three types of breakfast cereal and quality coffee was outstanding.
The location was quiet and the uninterrupted view of the Tasman was so beautiful.
We felt like we were in a five star hotel.
Don't judge a book by its cover - The Copthorn is a lovely place to stay. Great staff, truly wonderful welcoming customer service from everyone we met. The room was large and beds very comfortable. They are doing renovations at the moment, so no dinner service (we went to Monteiths brewery) but the breakfast was very generous and delicious. Will be booking again if I am ever lucky enough to return to Greymouth.
Robin is a gem and so is the lodge. We arrived late and were still made welcome. The house is fabulous, everything is in tip top condition, it's warm, spotless and spacious. Great linen and lots of great little touches such as chocolates by the bed, great quality toiletries etc. The breakfast was amazing. Robin helped us plan our next steps. This was our favourite stay in New Zealand. Thanks so much Robin.
Lovely little motel although on a main road was quiet at night. A 10 minute walk from train station when taking the Tranz Alpine from Christchurch. Room was large with a full kitchen. Appliances and bathroom facilities clean and new. Bed very comfortable. Continental breakfast very nice. Hosts helpful and kind. Enjoyed our overnight and good value for money.
Lovely studio just outside of Greymouth with a gorgeous ocean view. Everything looks brand new. Modern bathroom with storage, amazing bed with high quality linens. Kitchenette has lots of amenities, many choices for tea and coffee, milk in the fridge, cereal. No stove or oven, but a microwave and mini fridge. Very nice hosts.
The apartments are relatively new studio-type apartments attached to the Paroa Hotel, conveniently situated in the southern suburbs of Greymouth. The apartment is large, with a well-appointed kitchenette. Parking and Wi-Fi are free. Dining is available at the hotel; however, we did not make use of the hotel facilities.
We were traveling to Greymouth to take the Transalpine train from the train station. It was a busy holiday weekend and this was one of our only options. It was clean, quiet, and we were able to walk to restaurants in town. Not far from the train station.
Located not far from SH6 the ocean on one side and the rain forest, where the property is, on the other. Close to four of the loveliest short walks, including the treetops which in my opinion is New Zealand Aotearoa's answer to the Eiffel tower.
It was a cute motel. The lady at the front desk was so very sweet and helpful giving my daughter and me easy directions for walking. It was only a half mile from the train station. It was a great place. Thank you for your friendliness!
Host was very friendly and helpful. Our apartment was clean, roomy and comfortable and very well equipped. Supermarket was next door and easy walk to restaurants. Would stay there again if we are ever back in Greymouth.
Handy to town
Right next to a restaurant
Ten to fifteen min walk to beach, hospital and supermarket
Nice wee children's play area
Pet friendly on request
Great value for money
These Motels, are a Favourite Place , of Ours to stay at, while Visiting the West Coast. Lovely Friendly Owners & Staff . The Motels are Close to Everything . 💫
The hotel is ideally located in the centre of Greymouth with plenty of guest parking. The room was very well appointed with a large be and flat screen TV.
