Puno is a great city. I like the view on the lake and the Uros/Taquile Islands. I would go back in a heart beat.
The city itself is easy to access but due to higher elevation, I could only walk very short distances before being tired.

It is worth going to the lake in Puno since it is the highest navigable lake in the world and is also unique because of the islands made of reed. It was interesting seeing the lifestyles of the people living on these lakes. The food served as part of the tour was good, but getting to the restaurant was challenging since the climb up to the restaurant was quite steep. The overall experience was very good.

Access to Lake Titicaca, Uros, Amantani & Taquile islands.
Access to Lake Titicaca, Uros, Amantani & Taquile islands. The city itself is not very interesting, nice main square with a cathedral and few goods restaurants (Mojsa at the bottom of the Main square was really excellent, full of international travelers...). Did not have much time to climb on the nearby hills to have a panoramic view of the Puno & Titicaca. Spent two-day / one-night trip to Uros / Amantani / Taquile islands (overnight at Amantani with a local family), very interesting and very down-to-earth, but we all enjoyed the boat trip, Uros, dancing in local costumes & sunset from the top of Amantani (made it with our 8-year old daughter), as well as the next day at Taquile island. The following night we spent at Uros with Felix (Uros Amaru Marka Lodge) was excellent !

We wanted to come for the cultural experiences of the uro peoples but we saw a people who are abusing tourism to live. We were overcharged at every occurrence from transportation, housing, souvenirs, food etc. It left a bad taste in our mouths. We wish we would have spent time in other places in Peru.

Keep in mind that Puno, the town itself, is small.
Keep in mind that Puno, the town itself, is small. They don't have the artensans or activities that other large towns like Cuzco may have, so if you don't care to visit the floating islands of Uros, you may not want to make the trip.

It was twixt Xmas & new Year. Even so the place was buzzing.
It was twixt Xmas & new Year. Even so the place was buzzing. Markets galore and very well priced. Food was vaery nice in the restuarants.
Dont forget your ina toursit trap and it becomes more apparent as and if you go to the Uros islands. You will not be allowed tp leave until they have rinsed you of every penny they can get out of you -with minimal effort.
There is so much potential to do a lot more but I think the islanders have become lazy and just want to sell you trinkets which in all honesty are mass produced. The guide said they get most if not all oof their income from tourists. I can understand that, but at least make it entertaining rather than a tired old roadshow where they roll out the same thing time after time.
There is a nice promenade along the front with lots of wildlife.
Hope you enjoy.
Happy trails
The property is very nice. The property area is great! They have alpacas plus lots of wild guinea pigs running thru the garden. I stayed in room 112 and it was not noisy. Had a great sleep. The shower head however is not positioned properly so water splashes all over the floor which is sad as I can imagine how many towels need to be washed just to be able to keep the floor dry to not slip. Shower construction in general is not thought out well. And this is all over the world, not just Peru.
Hotel T'ika was one of the best affordable hotels that we had chosen in our tour around Peru. The breakfast was amazing, instead of choices you have everything. The tours are at a really good price, the hotel is pretty and has everything even heating. The wifi is good. Bertha is just awesome, really nice, she is there to help you anytime. If you are dying she will get you a doctor, bamm you are alive! We are planning to return for the Candelaria.Kelly and Zsolt.
Balcony over lake was nice, but small -- only one chair. This was our primary reason for choosing this hotel. All similar options in the area (GHL, Sonesta) did not have private outdoor space viewing the lake.
Bartender was great - tasty and unique pisco sours
Comfy beds, good housekeeping services
Fireplaces for dinner and at bar were cozy (and needed, the main areas of the hotel were freezing)
Restaurant staff was friendly and accommodating
This was, without a doubt, the best accommodation experience I've had in Peru. The owner of the property is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere in this place is truly family-like, which made my stay even more special. The service was exceptionally professional, and the house owner takes great care of the guests. I highly recommend this place, and I will always remember the sunset on the termach
Wow - we spent 3 weeks in Peru and this was the highlight. Absolutely beautiful and unique location we did not want to leave. Paradise - every detail is special. The hosts care for everything you need and go above and beyond during the stay. Truly kind and wonderful people who love to share their culture with pride and reverence. We will never forget our time in this gorgeous, completely unexpected place.
• very well located, close to main square and streets.
• reception is English speaking which is rare in Peru :)
• breakfast is served in a nice room with view (6th floor) and offers choices of fruits, juice, coffee/hot water, eggs cooked for you.
• we booked the triple room and we had a balcony.
• a towel to clean your shoes & travel items is provided.
We had an amazing experience staying with Isaac and Gladys. They gave us some insight in their day-to-day life. We received knowlegde about the usage of totora, fishing and about some of their costums. These nice people gave us the best accomodation in our journey through Peru so far. The meals, the people, the service and the view were all amazing.
Staff were fantastic, so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was classic Peru hostel but with eggs!! Which was great. Wifi was very reliable and the room was quite spacious. The hostel is about 15 minute walk from the main plaza which suited us fine and we walked back from there even after midnight with no issues. Great value for money.
This is a hidden gem. More of a hotel than a hostel. Spacious and superclean room, hot shower, and external heating in the room. I couldn't be more happy. The recepcionist was always kind and superhelpful. One of the richest breakfasts I had during my stay in Peru. You couldn't find a better place to stay.
A good location hotel in the center of Puno with very comfortable beds, quiet & clean rooms. The bathroom included shower was perfect with hot water. Breakfast was amazing! The staff was friendly and always helpful!
We had amazing family holidays there!
Hope to return to Puno and this hotel again.
A hotel that harks back to yesteryear. Was probably thriving in its day.The hotel was a long way from Puno centre but in a location magically overlooking Lake Titicaca. The staff were very pleasant. The room was clean, very comfortable bed, great views of the lake over rooftop gardens.
The location is perfect, right on the pedestrian only Plaza de Armas. The hotel staff were very warm and helpful. Juan in the restaurant and Angela at the front desk are the best. The artwork on each floor adds to the experience. For us it was a pleasure to stay there.
Beautiful views of Puno and Lake Titicaca, a comfy bed, a nice heater for cold nights, and the staff was so kind to not only hold our bags after we checked out, but also walk us a few streets over to our airport shuttle when a parade was blocking it.
The views and proximity to the Lake. The animals running around the backyard. Quiet and safe location. Very decent prices. Better food than most hotels in Puno. Very helpful staff.
Excellent service in the restaurant & delicious local cuisine. Stunning views from our room of the lake Titicaca. Very helpful with oxygen for altitude sickness; great steam room.
Perfect and magical, the highlight of our staying in Peru. Sleeping on a floaty island is a unique experience. Edar and his family made us feeling at home. Really recommended.
Good location of the hotel, just one block away from the main square in Puno and few good restaurants (Mojsa is 2 minutes from the hotel). Friendly staff.
