The venue was a disappointment. Apart from the room being very basic, there was a leak in the roof of the passage with towels on the floor, the door to the room was previously broken and not yet fixed, the hand held shower was broken. Not a venue we will visit again

It's the most magical and peaceful place on earth: a clearing in the middle of an old forest, a mill, a small river with a waterfall where you can take a bath or sit on a swing, an outdoor shower, a Japanese style wooden outdoor bath... you feel like being thrown into a fairy tale where the entire ecosystem is still intact. Your hosts are the most welcoming, kind and heartwarming couple who have created with great love to nature and detail this magical place, that feels like paradise where you can deconnect and recharge while listening to the rivers' lapping and the birds' singing.
Set just 11 km from Europarque, Vintage Balcony Guesthouse provides accommodation in Ovar with access to a garden, barbecue facilities, as well as a shared kitchen.

Bruno is an extraordinary host and the home has been beautifully renovated and decorated with antiques and traditional Portuguese items. Everything is spotless. An incredibly generous breakfast is served. Lola the pig is just too clever for words and adds a delightful element to one's stay:)

I liked Ovar. It is small and close to other places of interest. I took a day to return to Porto by train, to photograph the tile work in the Sao Bento train station. I did a little shopping, ate in some of the many restaurants and took more photos at the Blue church, Capela das Almas, Chapel of Souls. I also went by taxi to Valega to photograph the tile work on the church there. It is amazing. I read later that it is best to go at dusk due to the light. But I didn't get to see the inside. Check the times it is open.

Carnival in Ovar is fantastic!
Carnival in Ovar is fantastic! I am from the US so carnival is a new phenomenon for me. I really enjoyed the parade and, much to my surprise Ovar is a really nice town. There are lots of beautiful tiled buildings, the beach is really nice and I spent more time in Ovar than I was expecting. Not many restaurants were open due to carnival, but we went to a local place called PH which had a special meal for carnival. It wasn't the best meal I had in Portugal, but given the circumstances it was a good find.

Lovely old town with obvious investment in restoring it to...
Lovely old town with obvious investment in restoring it to its former glory. Check out the school of arts and crafts in the old paper mill and its exhibitions. Make sure to try the traditional cakes Pão de Ló de Ovar. A walk around searching for the lovely tiled houses is also a must. Nearby Ria is worth a visit, make sure you catch the short (car) ferry at St Jacinto to Aveiro.

Ovar is a wonderful area, especially for beach lovers.
Ovar is a wonderful area, especially for beach lovers. There are several great beach towns to explore, many new nature preserves and beach walks...and all of them feature restaurants with amazing food! Only half hour drive to Porto and you can easily take a train into the city and use the clean and safe subway system to get around the city for sightseeing.
I stayed at this hotel five years prior to this last visit and it was just as beautiful as I remembered it ~ you are literally steps from the beach! Unfortunately, I became ill with food poisoning and spent most of my time in my room. When checking out I was in need of something easy on my stomach and the front desk agent immediately called the kitchen and they put together a grilled ham and cheese for me! It was such a kind gesture and so appreciated! Definitely made a customer for life!
That is a house, only three bedrooms, so there can't be more than three couples at once. Good wi-fi, several bathrooms, two balconies, it is nice that prohibited outdoor shoes inside. I really enjoyed the kitchen, all the kitchenware was available. Really nice manager. The style of the hotel is adorable. Wooden floor in the rooms. It was really clean in the house. There is a feeling that the owner spent much time thinking how to make customers experience as nice as possible.
The hostel is very modern and fully equipped,it has a cozy atmosphere and is very central in Ovar area. The stuff is friendly and kind, whenever I needed something it was coming in minutes. The terrace out of the room is so beautiful and you can spend quite time there. Also the restaurant has very nice food, the space is beautiful and the stuff so welcoming (especially the girl with the red hair who was speaking perfect English) and helped me always.
The pool was great (pretty chilly in early may but we went in a few times), private fully fenced garden and only 5min walk to the beach/9min to the shop, 5 mins drive to big supermarket in ovar. We were greeted on arrival & shown around. The beds were comfortable & clean. Washing machine in out house and drying rack available. Netflix & fast internet.
The place was great, quiet, in the middle of the nature but also close to Ovar and a lovely beach with lots of amenities. Staff, Anna, was moito simpatica and gave us very good information about the area. La piscina was lovely although we run out of time to use it. We definitively recommend this place! Very good value for the money
The accommodation was wonderful and far better than what we had expected. Bruno was exceptionally friendly and gave us a wonderful tour of the house which had recently been renovated with such care and love. The breakfast was fresh from the bakery which was superb. I would definitely say this is the best accommodation in in Ovar.
Everything was cool. Location at the end of Ovar near the beach. The host met us near the apartment and showed everything. The complex has outdoor and indoor pools. Arriving on a weekend, it was difficult to find a place for parking. The host offered her place in the private underground parking.
Short drive to Porto. You may bike to Atlantico with Pedro s bikes - Thank you, Pedro! Have a a vacation feeling... Silence, Duoro wine, pleasant weather - never been hot. 5km to Vida commercial center - Ovar.
This is the best decorated place I've ever been in my entire life. It was so charming! The bed was comfy and it was perfect for our last night in Portugal before going to the airport.
Very good hotel, excellent facilities and well located. One can walk freely as it's in the center center and close to key places such as train station, etc.
