Spend a little time in Skagway as there is a great feel to the town. Loved the historic feel of the buildings. The brothel is worth a visit as it provides insight into the women who worked in those conditions. The Train trip on the Yukon Rail was good. Also a visit to the cemetery is worth the time. Talk to the locals.

It's an awesome town with the mountains and historic buildings. But the thousands of cruise ship crowds made being in town like downtown New York, ruining the ambience of a historic little town.
Sorry it's turned into a "Made in China" souvenir tourist shop town. UGH

A good three day stop, a good balance of touristy, historic and outdoorsy. We especially enjoyed the Chilkat Guides hike on the Chilkoot Trail, float down the Taiya River and drive to White Pass, Canada, a great afternoon with guide Alohi. Also enjoyed the visitor center with all the history of the Klondike Gold Rush. A cute town, easily walkable, pretty crowded when 4 cruise ships are in town. We aren’t much interested in t shirts and jewelry, so mostly skipped that part. They had great fun free activities all over town on July 4th; corn hole contests and the parades were fun and folks really got into it with crazy outfits, bands and dancing in the street, all in all, a lot of fun.

Everything you need in town is in walking distance downtown, but if you want to explore you can take the train, or rent a car and drive into Canada.
The town makes gold rush history come alive.
We arrived and left by the Alaska State Ferry, which I also recommend you check out,
The town does close up early because the schedule is bases on the cruise ship crowd.

Adorable town, full of history.
Adorable town, full of history. Lots of interesting things to do, to suit every taste & budget. This is a cruise ship stop. When the ships are in port, the town gets crazy crowded. And the jewelry store hawkers are menacing. Lots of pretty shiny things, though!

Sadly this hotel did not provide breakfast. Although the cafe did a breakfast burrito! The room was a bit dated but everything was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. I think it was coming to the end of the season and everywhere seemed to be about to pack up including the hotel restaurant!! (Mid September) The hotel was perfect for our requirements - one night stay in Skagway.
It was an excellent stay. It’s an old hotel and being historic will never be glitzy, but we were welcomed, had a decent clean room and everything worked. The location was terrific, and the breakfast superb. All round, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would commend it to others.
The host is very responsive, nice and helpful. Karl upgraded my room without I've asked. Gave my ride from and to airport. Showed me the tour place. Gave me free hot tea everytime I need it. I would definetely stay here if I visit Skagway. Oh, breakfast also delicious.
The History of the Inn is interesting, not everyone can say they have stayed at a brothel!! . Lovely quaint rooms, and near to everything in Skagway. Lovely complimentary breakfasts with such a lovely waitress.
Curtesy shuttle was welcome especially on inclement days!
Amazing little hotel in a historic building in Skagway. Walking distance to all locations in Skagway. The owners are amazing, very friendly and helpful. They provided free airport/ferry shuttle. Exceptional breakfast with freshly made eggs, bacon and potatoes.
The location of the Hotel is ideal to amenities and local attractions. The room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. The rich history was presented eloquently. The breakfast was awesome and staff were friendly.
It was lovely, with incredible attention to detail! We were so comfortable, and really enjoyed the historic feel of the inn.
Breakfast was delicious. Beds were comfortable. Rooms quiet, with efficient use of space.
The reception was exception led by Karl. Had dinner and it was value for money. I'll very strongly recommend Historical Skagway Inn to my friends and business associates.
