Would never recommend this hotel as I was treated as a second class citizen. I am a Hhonors Diamond member and a travel agent and was totally disgusted with the treatment received. The first room assigned, not the one I originally selected, stunk and was dirty. The second room had little bugs that looked like fleas so it made me think that whoever had the room prior had an animal in it and it was not cleaned well enough to put another guest in. The sink was cracked from one end of it to the other. I was told the GM was going to contact me but as of yet, I have heard from no one.

I was in Somerset to visit family, and I needed a quiet, comfortable room to sleep in that was conveniently located. Somerset Lofts fit that requirement, and was the least expensive option available. The rooms were spacious and laid out very nicely, but the hotel is showing signs of age and may not be for all travelers. If you choose to stay here, be prepared to endure minor inconvenience, but you will enjoy the space.

Hard to get any response from GM despite leaving several messages at the front desk I am an ADA person, the property is separated into one large pr o property and ours which was in the rear. Because of the distance it would have been easier for management to come to my suite tether than my walking to the front desk. I had advised the front desk of my limitations, to no avail.
I received a visit to my suite by the assistant manager only after I had waited an hour following leaving a message on her answering machine. Since i don't believe in coincidences i attribute her visit to my placing a call to Sonesta's corporate office.
I advised both corporate of the issues poor housekeeping, poor maintenance, safety issue ( smoke/fire detector covered by a plastic bag, it remained that way even after showing that to the assistant manager, upon our departure. Putting the safety of my family at risk. I'm 70 y.o and in palliative health care, so getting up on on a chair and reading above my head is out of the question.
I've uploaded several photographs of my suites glaring faults and am waiting to see if they post.
Additionally the staff treated us not as the reason for their jobs but an imposition on their time. Apparently hospitality training is sadly lacking at this location for its hires.

Unbeknownst to many, this is a beautiful area.
Unbeknownst to many, this is a beautiful area. Walked along the Delaware - Raritan Canal, and the Raritan River. Absolutely beautiful and peaceful. This N.J. State Park stretches from New Brunswick to Trenton, 33 miles in all.

I always prefer this property when wanting to get away from home, or just wanting a few friends to come together. The atmosphere is nice and welcoming, never any complaints or need to complain about neighboring rooms. The rooms could be available to smoke in, esp for the rate they are asking.

Hotel was clean.
Hotel was clean. Suite was clean although all dishes and silverware was in the dishwasher when I arrived. The bed was very comfortable and the front desk staff aaccommodating. However the hotels deposit policy and amount wss not accurate on their website. The hotel does not deal with any cash. So if you dont have an extra 100 to 300 dollars better book elsewhere.
This 7th time, stay here and will stay again, of course.
Rooms are immaculate . They do not allow smoking inside property, and this amazing .
The manager is the second supper positive thing in this hotel , I asked to extend my stay till 3 pm, and of course, he treated me well and let me stay for free of any charge .
Thank you .
They clea8n the room once weekly and this great .
Not a very good hotel and location, terrible and expensive place not worth at all. The staff was very rude and despite of being a lifetime titanium marriott bonvoy member, i was denied pointa for my 5 days stay which is a lot and they said you ahould have not booked via booking.com instead ahould have directly booked to get points
Very dirty place inside and out! Lots of drugs around, people hanging around your car and hanging outside. Dirty bathrooms, smells terrible in the halls and rooms. Breakfast is a joke and to get a fork is ridiculous. Burnt holes on the blankets and a sin to ask for a clean towel! Never again especially the one in Somerset!
We enjoyed our stay at the Rate Residence Inn by Marriott Somerset. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. There was a lot of storage space in the room and also a kitchen with a fridge and microwave. Staff was very friendly and helpful when we wanted to change our room. It was very quiet.
As expected, the fixtures & decor were dated & shabby, but everything worked well, & the bed & linens, & the TV, were very good (not old). The staff were impeccable, professional & very helpful. The room was quiet & the hotel felt safe.
the hotel wasn't horrible the room was decent for what it cost anymore. I had to work in the area and this was the most affordable hotel in the area. I liked that there was a place to have a drink and eat attached to the hotel.
