Danfords hotel is a lovely building located perfectly at the seafront. In fact, some of the nicest views can be had in their hotel-front garden where seating is provided. Check-in was quick and painless with a very professional receptionist. The rooms are either within the main building, or within a collection of buildings along the seafront adjacent to the main hotel building. My room was easy to find and felt very secure. The room itself was very large and spacious, but had been designed cleverly so as not to feel empty. The bed was incredibly comfortable, clean and well presented. The adjoined bathroom was large and bright, with a great overhead shower that had good pressure and immediate hot water. To top things off, I dined at the restaurant downstairs, which really impressed me not only with its delicious food but also its stunning sunset views. Overall I was very impressed, I can't imagine there is a better place to stay in Port Jefferson.
This hotel, featuring basic rooms with free Wi-Fi, serves free coffee and donuts each morning. The downtown Port Jefferson Station hotel is 4.5 miles from Long Island Museum of Natural Sciences.

The staff was super nice. They would help me with anything I needed. The place was very clean. They had food to buy for breakfast and dinner. The Smokey Bone's restaurant across the way was very good. I would stay there again.

It was very clean. The Bistro serving breakfast and a few items and drinks in the evening was a great convenience. There was a fire pit, heated indoor pool and gym, and ample parking.

The facilities were fine and nestled in an adorable community, which was an added surprise. However, there were some things that made my stay unpleasant:
1. I check in on 1/1, which was not a good idea because they were not properly staffed. For example, their restaurant was closed and the hot tub looked unclean.
2. Because the restaurant was closed, we had to go out for dinner. I wanted to eat at the hotel restaurant because the kids had just gotten out of the pool and it was winter in NY. The kitchen being closed was something I should have been told when I checked in.
3. On 1/2, the kitchen reopened, but breakfast ended at 10am. If breakfast ends before 11, they should tell guests that at check-in. I paid extra for the free breakfast option but ended up going to a local establishment instead because we missed “free” breakfast at the hotel. I paid about $65-75 for that breakfast for 4!
I’m not saying to never go to this hotel, but I am saying don’t go on 1/1, and set the alarm for breakfast before 10 if you desire to eat breakfast there.

Stony Brook is a very very charming little town! We walked a bit through the park near Three Villages Inn after window shopping in the little shops area, and found a beautiful natural area you can take long hikes in

I booked a room here for a friend's wedding.
I booked a room here for a friend's wedding. Everything about the place could have been better. There was no cold water. No heater except a propane fireplace which the smell is horrible. The lock on the door did not work. It locked us out of the room for more then an hour. No staff stays on the property so we had to wait outside in the cold for an employee to fix the door at 2am. Did not give us a refund of any kind. False promises by the staff.

Old inn, location was fine.
Old inn, location was fine. Room was lovely, however the old brick stairs getting up to it were not - I couldn't carry my luggage up and lighting was poor and it felt treacherous. Lighting was poor overall outdoors and finding my way from cabins to main lobby was damp, dark and unsafe.
The location of this awesome little hotel is right by our beautiful Avalon Park, which already makes it a catch. I booked a room for my parents so they can come visit me here in Stony Brook. I have to say that the hosts are super friendly and my parents enjoyed their stay a lot. They have everything you could possibly need, beautiful, clean rooms with an awesome bathroom, a customizable breakfast offer and an open guest space you can use if you want to. I absolutely recommend this for a little getaway.
Location: Across the street from a neat shopping plaza of sorts --- shops, restaurants, coffee shops, a superb tea service place (...though they all close early...), and the best of all, the harbor and the beach. Because it's not exactly a tourist trap, the lovely neighborhood is very quite, great for a relaxing getaway. (At least it was in early March when it was still cold). The locals are very amiable, friendly folks.
Staff: Absolutely courteous, knowledgable and personable.
The breakfast and the company during breakfast made this experience exceed my expectations. The location is idyllic and beyond tranquil for an area that is not completely remote. The respect for the environment and maintaining the ecological integrity is obviously of paramount importance. The stay here surpassed any antiseptic hotel experience one may be expecting.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Harbor Room over the weekend while in town for a wedding. We greatly enjoyed our stay! We felt welcomed and were very comfortable in our room. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and we had a great view. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and were able to navigate easily around the area.
Nice vintage motel, nicely situated in the small village of Stony Brooks, very friendly staff, spacious and clean room with all necessary equipments. No breakfast offered, but there's a choice of three breakfast locations in 5 minutes walking distance.
The historic property is located right in the heart of Stony Brook village. You are within walking distance from the water, excellent restaurants and quaint shops. The hosts are extremely gracious and the breakfast was awesome!! Definitely coming back!
Stony brook is such a nice place to stay. Our first room viewed a company truck and a tiny view of the harbor. We moved in the same cottage to a better view. Walking distance to a beach, cute stores and places to eat.
Nice suite, very comfortable. The restaurant was very good - we had breakfast, as well as an excellent lunch (tacos) and some wine and appetizers one evening. Very handy having such a good restaurant in the hotel.
The location of the hotel was beautiful. And the outside look of the hotel and internal bar area was really good, it was like stepping back in time. And stony brook wad beautiful..
The location in Stony Brook Village is great. It’s an easy walk to the yacht club and restaurants. From the exterior it looks really charming. But that’s an illusion!
