When I checked in my room was showing that it wasn’t ready to be checked in although I book online prior to coming. I had my husband and 3 kids in the car wait for more than 35 minutes to get the situation resolved. I will not be back. I also had a stand up shower in my room with 3 kids under 8 one being 1 years old and to think of only having a shower.

Manager was extremely friendly and welcoming. Room was large size.
The cost was reasonable. The location was great. There were several places to eat. The room was comfortable and clean. The amenities were none. If the pool and fitness room is important, please call before booking at the Comfort inn suites.

38 degrees outside first night’s stay. Tub clogged.. Second night’s sleep in non smoking room, reeked of cigarette smoke! Caused me to have headaches. We checked out earlier than planned! Not a good experience. Will not book again! Might not book any Holiday Inn Express ever again

Old downtown is interesting - revamped opera house and surrounding area with several new start-ups. There are several good restaurants and bars downtown.
Large flea market on the outskirts every weekend.
Conveniently situated as an easy drive between Myrtle Beach and the state capital of Columbia. Plenty to see and do in both locations.
The surrounding country roads are great for cyclists.

Overall, Sumter was a very nice place to visit.
Overall, Sumter was a very nice place to visit. Plenty of shopping and restaurants. The Palmetto Oyster House is a fun and enjoyable destination. I would suggest the steak....
I would recommend a visit to the historical downtown area. There are interesting places to eat and have a drink. If you like antiques, you won't be disappointed.
Don't forget to visit Swan Lake. The park not only will give you an up-close-and-personal- look at the beautiful swans but the park itself is very clean and well maintained. Great for family fun.

People were friendly, and the room was clean and quiet.
People were friendly, and the room was clean and quiet. It is a busy area, right on the main strip. Breakfast was ok, eggs weren't too good, and bacon looked to greasy for me to attempt. No balcony, to allow fresh air into the room, and there was no fan in the bathroom, so it was quite steamy after my shower.
I was in town for a movie filming in the area. The motel was only a few minutes from that location. There were not a lot of options, but this one was recommended by two others also in town to work with the movie. I live only 2 hours and 45 minutes away, but had been up all night the night before having to drive to Sumter and worked all day. I booked the recommended motel online so I could get a good night's sleep when we get finished filming before getting on the road. However, despite the great location, no sleep was to be had.
They have gotten to be the worst hotel in Sumter! I’ve always been a fan of this hotel for years as stated they are now the worst . Other hotels are more accommodating to my familiar though they are a little pricey they do not treat me and my family as less than as the quality in. Has lately! I never stayed at any other hotels until recently they use to be the best! I will never stay here again ! Ever and I will not recommend anyone too as well!
The stay and beds were good the bathrooms were nasty tubs need replacing they were dirty some of my family were complaining about there rooms and the staff was nasty and had attitudes with them we were in the Sumter SC Sleep Inn they said when they complained to the manager about there room she replied welcome to sumter so we won't be returning
The desk receptionist was outstanding. She was Very friendly, and welcoming. When I checked out early in the morning, she was still working and kept her friendly demeanor. Very refreshing and most memorable part of my stay at the hotel.
After staying in other motels in the area I found Candlewood exceptional. I come to Sumter about twice a year and I have finally found a motel I will be coming back to. I liked everything about the facility.
I guess I expected a little more variety for breakfast. It wasn’t what I expected. At another chain in Sumter they have waffle irons, sausage gravy and biscuits, fruit, eggs, pastries, coffee, juice, etc.
The breakfast was tasty and had a good assortment of items from which to chose. I could not have been happier with your hotel. I will certainly refer you to my friends and family.
Love the location of the hotel! The hotel is very pretty. Stayed there several times. For the 1st time, I hung out by the pool! Very nice and my husband used the gym!
The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was nice and clean. Everything I needed was in the room and accessible. I would book to stay in that hotel again.
The staff was very heplful, If I needed something they were very quick to help, so I am very pleased with their effort to accommodate my stay at the Hotel.
