Breakfast was good. Eggs, bread, fruit. Host is super accommodating and friendly. Place is clean, and close to the airport. Super if you are going to Principe., though a hit of a walk (maybe 45mins) from downtown sao tome.

First and foremost, this is a place that provides a high level of service (and management) for reasonable cost. Sao Tome can at times be a little bit daunting for travel (in some ways part of the fun). Few places accept credit cards, no viable international ATM I could find, so you have to research/budget and bring Euros or USD and do money exchanges with random people on the street. Reminded me of travel to Eastern Europe in the 1980s. This guest house, however, removes all of those stresses. They not only take credit card for the room and change money with you at a decent rate, they will also give you dobras against a credit card charge if you run out of the cash you brought. Easy and a big relief if you're stressed about managing your money. They offer airport transfers (the owner himself drove me in his own car because the country had otherwise run out of gasoline and he had a diesel SUV); they have an reasonable and upfront policy about extra charges for late check out, which takes into account the schedules of the TAP flights to Accra and Lisbon; they have a reasonable bar out back by the pool. I'm sure some of the higher end hotels in town offer many of these services, but at least double if not triple the price. I was very happy to find an affordable hotel that also provided these extra services and would stay here again based on that. They had to ration diesel for the generator at certain times of the day due to the fuel crisis in the country but again this was all stated up front with signs in multiple languages, and was a very rational solution to a problem outside of management's control. Apart from that, the room was nice and quiet and to be able to swim in the big pool at dusk and watch the bats circle around overhead was a memorable experience.

The staff were really friendly, rooms were lovely, big and everything was very clean. Great location in town. I had to leave early so didn’t get to try the breakfast but will def be returning to this guest house during my trip

Casa Cantagalo - Guest House & Bar Restaurant has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Santana. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms conveniently furnished and decorated. The owners paid attention to the small details making the stay pleasant, both in the restaurant and in the hotel parts. Outstanding view in the terrace, facing hills and mountains.

Situated in São Tomé, Baig's Guest House features air-conditioned accommodation with a balcony and free WiFi. The property has city views. Pleasantly surprised. I booked last minute and I was not expecting anything fancy but the room was really great! A/C worked, shower with warm water and a fridge to keep bottle of water inside. The staff goes beyond everything if you can manage to communicate with them! The location for me was perfect, central and near a supermarket. The breakfast at the bar downstairs is also great! You can walk around, it is safe ! I would definitely stay there again.

Situated in São Tomé in the Sao Tome Island region, Santos`s House has a patio. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. Location is good. Close to the centre. There is a nice patio on the 1st floor.

Located in Trindade, Roça Saudade Guest House features accommodation with seating area. Featuring full-day security, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. The people and the service were wonderful. the food was beyond excellent—locally grown and caught and skillfully prepared. Amazing location with views from the mountain down to the sea. Lush tropical foliage and beautiful gardens. Our guest rooms each had a terrace with chairs and a table looking to the east making for amazing sunrises. We loved the art and decorations in the rooms, the shutters which kept the insects and the light (when we didn’t want it out). big windows provided excellent views. Excellent wifi.

Located in Graça in the Sao Tome Island region, GUEST HOUSE QUINTA NATURAL Bangalots features a patio and garden views. This property offers access to a balcony and free private parking. I think this was one of the most luxurious places we stayed, for low budget. It had hot water, rooms with equiped kitchen, comfy beds, TV (well sao tome only has 2 channels I believe), fan, good breakfast.... The owners are very hard workers and welcoming. We would have liked to stay more time here.

Ocean View Guesthouse is set on the beachfront in São Tomé. This guest house has a garden and free private parking. The guest house features family rooms. We wanted nature and a beach option within walking distance. The shopping and dining options nearby were suitable for us with 3 km walk (one way). To drive into the city, it is about a 20-minute walk through the backland to the road where the yellow taxis drive at regular intervals. The way to the house is only for experienced off-road vehicle drivers and despite the polite warnings here, it exceeded our expectations :D Our recommendation: Request a pick-up service for arrival/departure and buy the first important things in the supermarket when you arrive. The rest can be obtained in the villages. Our room was spacious and had its own bathroom. There was a common area (lounge/couches/dining area) and a kitchen. All rooms were clean and well maintained. Cleaning staff came regularly. Everyone is very polite and accommodating. We felt richly gifted, as there are other beaches very close (only few steps through the hedge). In addition, there are fantastic shopping facilities (fruit/vegetables, beer, fresh fish) in Mikolo but also street restaurants to buy fresh fish, octopus, mussels. The fishing village of Mikolo is well known on the island. Since the designated restaurants on googlemaps only open after 6 p.m., they were not really an option for us. We did not find the footpaths in the dark desirable. Except for a few days we were alone in the accommodation. The house dog is very sweet and always hungry 😊 (I was shockingly in love and there was daily morning exercise together at sunrise). We highly recommend this accommodation for a longer stay. Portuguese/French are very welcome & helpful.
