Situated in Gurk, 45 km from Magaregg Castle, JUFA Hotel Stift Gurk features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. My wife and I managed only one night and one walk, as we were on our way to our planned holiday in Italy. We can very easily imagine a longer stay here: - The location is indeed very special. Gurk itself has certainly a fantastic setting, but the hotel is the place itself. - The room was very spacious, the bathroom itself had the size of a hotel room :-). We had the luck to have a corner room, with windows facing two directions with great views, but I can imagine that each room is great. - Parking is just right to the entrance, easy. - The staff was friendly and helpful. - We had just the breakfast; the unusual is that you have your table reserved; actually the system is fine, particularly if the place is more busy than during our stay. The choice and the quality was very good. Apart from the pre-paid meal we had a little wine and coffee in the coffee next to the reception desk, and it was great. - You can make walks or trips around, the countryside just invites for that. And you can hire a bike, if you decide only later. - A cozy little sitting area in the room, if you want to just sit what a while with your cup of tea/coffee (tea/coffee making possible in the room). - WiFi was available and working.

Providing free WiFi and a terrace, Weingut Taggenbrunn is located amidst the vineyards, close to the city of St. Veit an der Glan, 6 km from Magdalensberg Archaeological Park. Loved the Location in particular. It is right underneath the castle ruins and one can walk up to them through the vineyard. The accommodation block is very modern and stylish and the food (breakfast in particular) was very tasty.

Located right in the centre of Pisweg, near Gurk, Gasthof Zum Kramer offers a large children’s playground with a table tennis table, and a restaurant serving typical Carinthian cuisine. Breakfast was good, supper exelent, location quiet, staff very nice. Pleasent place.

The staff were lovely, the room was spacious, secure parking is validated in the hotel, even little touches like the air is refreshed with a really nice scent throughout the hallways. I'm not sure I should give away my secret, but if you are looking for accommodation for ironman Austria, it is a really nice distance away from klagenfurt to keep away from the hype, but St Veit, as part of the bike course, still makes the area special for race weekend. In fact you cycle past the hotel and go down the pedestrian Street with music playing and people outside cafés cheering
