This charming, 3-star hotel and vineyard, built on the foundations of an old Roman mill, offers peaceful accommodation in Mertesdorf, just 8 kilometres outside the ancient city of Trier. Lovely staff members went out of their ways to attend us. My husband had his birthday and they came with cake and champagne! It's a shame we couldn't tip with a digital payment 😪

Nicely rich, good weighted duvet and high-quality mattresses meant we fell asleep quickly and had a refreshing rest. No wonder this pace is a hit with bicycle riders, the plaque said, a winner of "Bike and Bett" awards.We were chaperoned to our rooms, which were ultra clean, fresh and pleasant. I am so glad I chose this place. Breakfast was exactly what you needed: nice variety and topped up timely by a caring staff. No doubt I would return. Best regards Slav Litwin
