The lodge is very cosy and the food is simply sublime. Everything is prepared with lots of care and the staff were simply wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this out of the way hotel where you can see (and hear) deer in their natural habitat.

Very friendly staff and an excellent location. This is a small, privately run hotel, far away from pretty much everything (which can be part of the appeal). The common areas (drawing room, dining room, library) are also all very comfortable, and make this seem more like a home.

Formerly called The Castle Arms, The newly refurbished Mey Hotel is a 19th-century coaching inn and Visit Scotland award winning hotel just 8 miles from John O'Groats, in the village of Mey. Located along the north coast, it’s a great spot for exploring. There’s a very personal touch with this hotel, and we were made to feel very welcome. The breakfast was cooked to perfection, as was the evening meal. We sat in the lounge in front of the fire in the afternoon and enjoyed the ambiance of a very tastefully decorated room. Thanks for such a lovely stay.
