If you arrive empty handed you can purchase basic food items. Very quiet place.

Moleiro de Baçal is a stone country house located in Baçal, 7 km from the city of Bragança, and offers comfortable bedrooms. Free WiFi access is available. Moleiro de Bacal is a lovely country home located just outside of Braganca. Maria Jose is the most gracious hostess. Our room was huge with a spacious terrace outside of our bedroom where you can sit in the shade and enjoy the afternoon breeze. Maria Jose will schedule your homecooked breakfast at the time you wish - huge portions of scrambled eggs, bacon, fresh orange juice, fresh fruit, bread, coffee and her homemade jams. We were within a 15 to 20 minute drive of the modern city of Braganca which we enjoyed exploring the fort and the Museum of Masks. One evening we had the most delicious wild game dinner at the Restaurante Solar Braganca in town. We also drove up to the tiny village of Rio de Onor one afternoon and the village of Montesinho on another day. So quiet and relaxing. We highly recommend staying with Maria Jose in her beautiful country home.

With a heated outdoor swimming pool, the family-run A Lagosta Perdida is located in Montesinho Natural Park. It features a horse riding school 8 km from the property and a 24-hour reception. This is a very special place, like none I've ever stayed in across 20+ years of travel throughout southern Europe! The guesthouse is in a splendid traditional village house restored with incredible care and attention to detail. Our room felt ancient and modern all at once, with rustic touches seamlessly blended to accommodate all of the modern conveniences one could ever desire. It is in a pristine slate-roofed village in a quiet untouched mountain region that feels lost in time. Richard is an incredible host: the food and hospitality were top of class from the moment we arrived.

The house had EVERYTHING you needed or more. Also the location was great. The neighbours were sooo helpful as they dropped off some food . Loved the beautiful river & the these old buildings. The owner gave us some suggestions about the walking tracks & etc. Now I feel I have to study Portuguese & want to retire there.

Providing a terrace, Varandas da Capela provides accommodation in Tuizelo. Fitted with a balcony, the units feature a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with bath or shower. This is an incredible find in a beautiful, very rural area. The building is a converted manor house and the rooms are spacious. The owner is extremely hospitable and her daughter-in-law speaks perfect English and is a great resource. You will feel like you are a member of the community because you are--Tuizelo is a small and welcoming village. Many nice hikes in the area--ask Sara. Vinhais is close by with a historic old town and several restaurants.
