Lovely beer garden and play area for children. Rooms were a nice size, and welcoming. large shower head and food was lovely. Side entrance to the bedrooms when the pub was closed. Lovely original feature beams. Large selection of meals and snacks on the menu. Allowed dogs to stay which is important for us when we travel and there was only an extra £10 charge for the dog. Rooms were soundproof which was nice because you had no interruption from people moving around or talking in other rooms.

We particularly liked the service we received from Sally and Carol at breakfast time we looked after us very well and also Sophie who was a super waitress and again looked after us very well. Sally helped by arranging for our bags to be taken up to our large comfortable room and again staff took our bags out to the car.Food was very good as well well cooked and hot as appropriate. We enjoyed our stay in this historic building not forgetting the super bar and terrace .

The room and en-suite was very clean. We had a nice view of the River Wye. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order, good ingredients and delicious. Plenty of seating in the grounds of the Hope and Anchor overlooking the river, outside bar serving drinks, ice-cream and snacks. Good walks from the pub.

Lovely village in the middle of the Wye Valley.

Lovely village in the middle of the Wye Valley. Gorgeous walks and also a great castle. Quiet and away from it all, a 15 minute drive to nearby Ross-on-Wye. We loved Sunday lunch at the Hostelrie in Goodrich it was delicious with excellent service. We also booked canoes for a day on the Wye, lots of fun! Close to Monmouth as well which was a nice day out.

Goodrich is an attractive place but there's not much there apart from the castle, which was closed and a pub which was also closed for refurbishment. Lots of lovely walks in the area though, so we weren't too bothered about the size of the village.

    Interesting little village.

Interesting little village. Goodrich Castle was lovely to visit. We got confused navigating around Goodrich, even though it is small. Very easy access off the A40. Lovely/spectacular walks in the area (especially around Symonds Yat, plus good boating there too) and close to the Wye Valley too. Easy to visit Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye from here. Despite good reviews for the Cross Keys Inn we had a very disappointing and over-priced meal there. However, there are other pubs/restaurants to eat in (both in the village and in the villages close by), but we didn't get to try them. Many options from Goodrich for sightseeing and walking. Quite a good bus service from Goodrich to Monmouth (service 34). At Monmouth use bus service 69 to explore the Wye River Valley.
